Questions about: audio noise, pausing w/remote & epg

As to the audio noise on bright scenes....I see you're using an ATI tuner. Does it happen to be a Theater 650 and is it happening on analog channels? They are known for that problem when using drivers newer than 7.9, although I tried downgrading and got horrible video distortion instead, so now I only use mine for digital only. The other side to downgrading is from what I've read you loose QAM support, so if that's something you're using....

to NAADOR: i believe it is a ATI HD TV wonder 650, i dont feel like digging out the box right now. i googled the tuner you suggested, and it wasnt that one it looks like the Wonder.


To Sub, just some ideas on your next version/build of GBPVR...

1. I noticed when you go into the video library and it shows your count at the bottom of the page - example: "1/50", I have a problem.

Well use the number 1002 for right now (4 digits is my point here)

when im scrolling through files and i get to 99/1002 all is fine. when you get to 100/1002, the 2 on the 4th digit drops to the bottom and looks like this:

100/100
---2 (there are no dashes, i had to put the dashes there before the 2 cause vbulletin doesnt allow spaces at the begining of a line

and when you get to 1000/1002 it looks like this
1000/10
--02


2. When your in a menu i.e.Movie, music, etc. can you fix/add a way so when you press a letter it will take you to that section of the list? So if i want to go to the movie that starts with say Z as in say hypothetically the movie Zoolander, I can just press "Z" and it takes me to the Z's without page downing through say a thousand files?

Any way of fixing that?

I'm fairly certain the TV Wonder 650 uses the same chip as the Theater 650. In fact both cards have links to the same knowledge base article about noise in bright scenes on ATI's site. So I'm thinking this is probably what's going on.

From the sounds of what naador posted, if you dont need Clear QAM digital cable support, then you can use older drivers. If you need analog and clear QAM, then you might have to hassle ATI to fix it, or look for a different card.

yeah, basically what sub said... I was trying to be cheap buying the ATI vs. a 2nd Hauppauge, but in the end I ended up buying another Haupp anyway... one other thing of note is that apparently the s-video input on these ATI cards is unaffected (although I haven't tested myself), so if you have a cable/sat box to connect to the card you could still utilize it
