2008-11-07 17:13:47.084 ERROR ConnectFilters:Failed(2)

I get these errors as well, just never got around to asking what they mean. They don't seem to be too harmful as I am able to record and watch LiveTV with my HD-PVR. Here are a couple of things I have noticed and changes I made to get my HD-PVR working, hopefully they will work for you as well:

1. I have had nothing but issues with the built-in IR blaster and GB-PVR on my system, Vista x64 HP. I have installed IR Server Suite and use a MCE beanbag/IR blaster instead. When I used haupblast.exe, I had the same problem where the red record light would come on for a second then turn off and nothing would get recorded. Others are using firewire to tune the channels on the settop. If you don't have another blaster, I would suggest disabling the channel changer in config as a test, manually set the channel and see if your recordings work.

2. I'm using the SPDIF optical cable with the newer HD-PVR drivers (not 1.0B from the included CD) to get AC3 audio. That also required 1.3.7 to work. No RCA audio cables plugged into the the HD-PVR.

Then I had to add the following line to config.xml to get audio working in LiveTV:

<PreferredHDPVRAudioFormat>AC3</PreferredHDPVRAudioFormat>

Thanks to Benji for that find, http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...ostcount=3.

3. There was one occurrence where I still did not have audio in LiveTV even with the above setting. I went into Total Media Extreme's recording app (updated version) which had audio and video working. It also specified the input resolution and audio format (AC3 2.0 or 5.1) on the left side. Then I was able to go back into GB-PVR and had no problems with audio and LiveTV, even after a reboot.

4. Try a different USB port, may or may not help. I have read in other forums that this may help, but I haven't noticed anything different.

5. When in doubt, try power cycling the HD-PVR - it seems the unit can get in a funky state and won't record.

I can tell you that the HD-PVR does work with GB-PVR. I'm not saying I don't have issues, because I do. My problems include the red recording light randomly going out at times during LiveTV and the program stops and then the red light comes back in a second or two and the program is back again. I have also occassionally had issues when I bring up the on-screen guide during playback on the HD-PVR. It causes LiveTV to lock or audio and video to stutter. Also when I change channels, the red light goes out and then back on as it gets to the next channel causing a dropout in the audio/video. This didn't happen in 1.2.13.

Good luck!

Thanks for the tips Verus but unfortunately none of those work on my system.

Have you guys tried to do some capture using GraphEdit or GraphStudio, i.e. manually connecting filters appropriately to try to get a recording going. If it doesn't work within GraphEdit, then it won't work with GBPVR.

Have a look at : http://blog.arogan.com/2008/06/hauppauge...-1212.html
section "Building an HD PVR capture filter graph using graphedit:"

As mentioned above, I have no play back of the recordings. These recordings play back fine in every other player I have including graphedit, when setup with the same filters as PVRX2. I had the issue of no sound from live TV. That has been cured with the help of the previously mentioned code: <PreferredHDPVRAudioFormat>AC3</PreferredHDPVRAudioFormat>
I am still looking for a way to get the HaupBlast.exe program to work without locking up the HD-PVR. My HD-PVR is a D2. I am running a XP box with an AM2 4600 and a 7300GS video card that I suspect is a problem. Even with these minor glitches, GB-PVR is still performing better than my old Media Portal.

I've identified the HDPVR blaster as my problem! I unplugged the blaster from the HDPVR and changed the channel changer setting in config to "No Channel Changer Required" and now it works perfectly (aside from the fact that GBPVR can't control the satelite box channel)

I should also note that I had to paste a setting into my config.xml file as noted here to get the audio playback working:
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post306307

Not sure if this is a GBPVR issue or HDPVR. This is my second HDPVR, I rma'd one already but both units were rev C2. I'm going to try and contact Hauppauge and see if a newer version addresses this issue.

Anybody else run into this problem?

I suppose another alternative is to purchase a USB-UIRT

I believe this is a known problem. It's been discussed at length on other forums (AVS, for one). Best bet is to get a USB blaster, like the UIRT or the Microsoft remote/blaster package (which is what I use). You'll probably have to use another package to drive it, like HIP.

Ok, now I have both video and audio showing fine in live tv. but when i try to record, it creates a 128 k file then locks up the hdpvr. i have to power cycle it to get it working again. i know its not hardware, as everytihing is perfect in TME. any ideas, or anything i can post to help diagnose this?

So, heres my question. Turning off the blaster fixes my issues also, so it would be easy to blame the hardware and find another solution, but 3 months ago, before the new revision of gbpvr and driver upgrade from the manufaturer, it worked fine for about 3 weeks. i have 30 captures movies off my sattilite that used the blaster to tune just fine. Did something change in the way the blaster is used? is there any log or testing i can do to help get to the bottom of the issue?

No, nothing changed from a GB-PVR perspective. GB-PVR just tells the Hauppauge interface to change to channel 'X' and the rest happens away from the visibility of GB-PVR, so unfortunately no GB-PVR logs that would show anything.

Maybe try setting your set top box to output a constant resolution, ie either always 720p or always 1080i. Resolution changes did cause some problems with the HD PVR.

My HDPVR would lock up when using the blaster also. I found that the blaster would send the first digit of the requested channel then a second or more later it would send the second digit. By the time the second digit was transmitted the channel had already changed on the STB. Then the HDPVR would lock up. The delay settings in the IR setup were of no help even turned all the way to 0.
