Those comskipfiles look fine to me.
Just my 2 cts: What if it's not the comskipfiles but the timeline of the recording that messes things up?
Without the comskipfiles can you skip normally through the recording?

Yes removing the comskip files allows skipping with no problems.

I initially thought it was a problem w/ the timeline & tried remuxing w/ tsMuxeR, but found by accident, that when comskip files were removed, the timeline issues went away. Putting them back, made the issue return.

In addition, when I updated config.xml to use the txt file (instead of edl), I could skip fine, but the breaks were never even close to the right places.

This only occurs on my HD-PVR recordings, so it seems to be isolated to H.264, but it doesn't happen with every show - maybe about half the time.

The framerate isn't changed I guess?
Edl-files are just the skippoints in seconds and the txt-files are just the skippoints in number of frames. So if the framerate changed the skippoints would change aswell (when using txt-files).

Not sure how the framerate would change - it has to have something to do with how GBPVR calculates & presents the timeline when implementing the comskip feature.

i get weird looking output in notepad for your .edl file...looks like linux linebreaks..
did you edit that one in any way?
mine don't look like that in notepad...
do you have latest comskip?

confirmed in editpad: linux line breaks...maybe a bug in comskip ver you're using?

I opened them (this edl + another) in notepad++.
Normally they would have a CR LF at the end of a line.
This one only has the LF. So something has gone wrong it seems.
I didn't see it the first time, because in notepad++ they show fine, in contrary to notepad.
When I ticked "show line feed markings" (translation is mine) in Notepad++ config, the difference showed.

Edit: Aahh, PBS sneaked in an edit in the meantime.

try removing all the commercials just leaving blank file and see if it still works strange..
[oops, forgot you can't do that, n/m]

or try different comskip ver...
actually i'd try editing that .edl file to include normal line breaks..
just open in notepad and put an 'enter' at end of each line and save..

The edl files that result in messed up playback don't look any different than those for shows that work.

They look the same as those for *.mpg files recorded from the PVR-500 & the mpg2 ts files from my HD-Homerun & I don't have any issues with those recordings.

Regardless, I tried editing the edl file in notepad & replacing the LF characters with windows style line breaks, but it didn't make any difference.

I'm using the 4/4/09 version of comskip - I don't see a later version on Eric's download page.

Just out of curiosity - can either of you post one of your edl files so I can see what they SHOULD look like?

here's one of mine:
0.00 6.04 0
703.14 823.32 0
1116.85 1272.77 0
1464.20 1600.77 0
1857.96 1857.99 0

so other than the line breaks it looked fine..
tho it shouldn't be producing lniux line break files from comskip..
maybe try an older version, newest isn't always best..
my ver is back from 8-08
