As I said above, its always going to record the subtitles. It records all information the broadcaster transmits for a channel, including subtitles, data services etc.

But the subtitles are still being recorded so can be seen when watching any recordings over my network.

What player are you using for watching the files across the network? Its there you need to turn off the subtitle display.

Problem solved, upgraded the firmware on my emprex players and now can toggle subtitles on/off.
Ican now use your brilliant program
