JonnyCam, thanks for your input. Many people are finding it a pain to upgrade the firmware on their blu ray players, on average the mainstream does not have the technical knowledge on how to do this and bad firmware upgrade can make the box useless. I also read that they use hdcp encryption. That is why I referenced that. I realize they use more encryption on the video stream. Strange that the industry is so paranoid that they keep changing the encryption.
I also read that the hdcp can ask for a new key periodically. It will be interesting to see what happens over the next year or two. Computer hackers don't like encryption lol. They see it as a challenge
I'm going to call Comcast cable and see if they use hdcp on their boxes. But probably won't move in that direction for 6 months to a year.
