Telnet + 'ls' lists all the movie sub-directories in the share as expected so I think the share is setup properly. I don't see any attempt to play the DVD folder in any logs. Which one would it be in?

The MVP.log But there is a catch only on the first client is logged, so you have to reset things back to one MVP server.

I set it back to 1 server, started up the A-110, browsed to the Videos section and tried to hit Play twice while "M:\Movies\General\A Perfect Murder" was selected/highlighted. I don't see anything in the MVP.log suggesting it attempted to play it back but I have attached the log.

I guess you need to get sub to look into how he handles Play All on video_ts folder or even better ask him nicely to give back play on the .DVD file.

Sub, as an FYI you posted a snippet here that shows part of the problem http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post430454 the error on the .dvd file is logged

file does not exist: C:\movies\sample\sample.dvd

You have a second in that snippet since if the code is ever executed the NextPVR will stop accepting keystrokes and eventually crash. What you did in GBPVR was send me the .IFO name and I used that as a trigger to play a VIDEO_TS folder.

Martin, Thanks for your help. I can play DVDs now.

MKVs seem to a problem for the NMT. Besides not passing through HD audio, I had several freezes when trying to watch an MKV created from a blu-ray (required a stop and resume to recover). So, I guess I will have to use the .m2ts files for now. What do you do when there are several .m2ts files for a given title? Is there any easy way to combine them?

The proper way would be to use something like TSMuxer to combine them into one file. But as long as there are no stream changes between files you could just use "copy /b" to combine them.

Sorry I don't really play .mkv files other than testing but in reading the NMT forums regularly I haven't read too much about mkv's freezing that indicate that it worse then on any extender. Assuming that you make these yourself you have to be careful about the profile and the number of reference frames. .m2ts are typically closer to bluray spec and stream much better.

I did find a few posts saying that HD audio is only in m2ts files, which makes sense because when the A110 came out, HD lossless wasn't supported in mkv.

The NMT does support playlists that play m2ts files contiguously but potentially with a small gap. Sub and whurlston were looking into creating these playlists making a pseudo bd-lite but I don't think that has evolved yet.

I just tried an .m2ts file and got similar video freezes as with the MKV. I had no such problems with my PC or my old HD300 connected at the same location to a Gigabit wired network. I also can't get 5.1 PCM audio via HDMI from .m2ts to work. My AVR says it is 7.1 PCM but it is clearly only 2-channel. Frustrating - I really wanted the A-110 to work for me...

I can't explain why a video would freeze, you'd probably need to look a web.log to make sure it is streaming ok. You might want to try using the native player, maybe it streams differently.

I don't know anything about support for PCM audio other than 2:0, just DTS and Dolby, I assume you have your PCH configured for 5:1 surround output?

The intent of mvpmcx2 is really for broadcast mpg/ts stream playback, hopefully that is working okay for you. Everything else is left to the PCH firmware and relative to the market it has received above average reviews. I would not expect it to be an HD300
