I just tried doing a new install of GB, w/ nothing else added. Something still holds the file. I thought it could be a plugin.
What has be puzzled is that when you start a new show, the previous one doesn't free up...so something is still active on every file until GB restarts.
I tired to find an app to see what processes are running on a file (like looking at what services depend on what) but couldn't find one. I'd like to know if it's just GB, or something Windows.
Ok, I have now found out that just restarting gbpvr.exe alone will release those files. Â Doing just the recording service does not, and it does not need to be done. Â Somehow, soemthing to do w/ having gbpvr.exe running is keeping every file it creates for preview mode busy.
I don't know if that helps. If it gives me a place to look for answers, let me know and I'll dig through the logs.
I'm trying to create a bat file to restart gb for now like the one you have for the recording service, and have it run at 3:59 (I epg at 4). Â It will be a temp work-around for whatever is going on.
Is there any chance it could be related to the DB? That it's keeping open all the live instances that are in the DB, and the DB isn't releasing them? I know, that's a reach...low on ideas.
I installed Automate last night to close and open GB before the guide update, so I've got a work around for now. The live drive has 60Gb free, so there's way more than a day's viewing.
Let me know if you can think of a way for me to find out which process is keeping those files active. If the same filters are used for recorded tv, then the same thing is not happening, as I can delete a program I record & watch w/o a problem.
Again, it's just gbpvr.exe alone, or something that closes along w/ it, that is creating the hold. Close that, and the files free up.
I suppose this could be just me, but people who don't check their live folder (and restart semi-frequently) may not notice it.
