VLC uses it's own internal decoders usually. MPC and Windows Media Player use windows decoders, just like NPVR. So again, that points to a problem with the way you have your decoder(s) setup.

Thank you. All I had to do was deselect Dolby Digital (ac3) in the pass-through (SPDIF/HDMI) section of ffdshow decoder output submenu!
