Hi joshley,

Thankyou very much for all your help. I have the XMLTV up and running. Just one last request. How do you get the Channels in the order you want ,on the program listing within the GBPVR. I have been trying to do it within the Capture Source option, on config but no joy. I have had to type in the channel numbers , a few time so I HAVE NO HAIR LEFTnow.

Joe,

Oh I know, it's a pain in the monkey to organise that! I entered the channels in two times aswell! I messed it all up the first time. All 150 bloody things!! Oh well. You have to look at the EPG channel list under the settings for your Capture Source. What I did was I cleared it completely, then reloaded the XMLTV file and entered in the relevant NTL (Sky obviously for you) numbers in each one. You can find a complete listing of ALL channels and their respective Sky channel numbers here.

BE WARNED!!! If you find channels that you don't have (for whatever reason, maybe you added one incorrectly or something) in your list and deselect them, and then ADD a channel without pressing OK and saving the settings (i.e. which channels are deselcted) they'll revert back to the last saved setup. For example, if you deselect 15 channles in various places, DON'T click OK and reload, then add a channel in, all 15 channels you deselected since you last opened the window will revert back to being selected.

It's a painful and slow process but once it's done it's done (unless you're me who somehow managed to have to do it two times). Anyway, when you save the EPG list with the new channel numbers and go back in you'll find them magically in order (God bless that whole number system, eh?)!

Enjoy!

Joshley,

I had a read of your last post.Do you mean I have to reload the EPG again?
If so I have no hair left on my head,I will be going for the ears next.

On one of your other posts you explained about editing the c:\XMLTV\.xmltv\tv_grab.uk.rf.conf. file to pick which channels you want. When I did that, and rerun the .bat file and downloaded updates, and then ran the Update for EPG,it
loaded all the channels again. Am I editing the right file?

Do I config the file first ie:- tv_grab.uk.rf.conf with the required channels, and then run the .bat file. Then update the EPG. Is this the correct path?

Sorry for being such a pain.

NP I don't have anything to do with the TVxb thing other than just passing on something useful.

Although I didn't ask for it, thanks very much for organising the NTL channel download. Saved me a lot of time.

Perhaps when NTL redo the channel numbers (which they've been promising for a long time) I can return the favour.

Joe,

Sorry for the delayed reply!

No, you shouldn't have to, I forgot to clear mine so I had remnants of the old Bleb list which I kept having to unselect, but I just cleared it all and started againn to ensure a fresh start! All you have to do is make sure you have the right channel number next to the right channel, and no duplicates either! It would be handy perhaps to be able to sort the EPG list in alphabetical order aswell as numerical so as to remove to copies of the same channel with different numbers as easily as two different/same channels with same number. I'll put something on the wishlist along those lines.

You are editing the right file (although it's 'tv_grab_uk_rt.conf' not 'tv_grab.uk.rt.conf', just for clarity! [Image: smile.gif]). This is what XMLTV looks at to get right channels... are you definately physically saving the file?

Your ordering is correct also:

1) Change the 'tv_grab_uk_rt.conf' file
2) Rerun whichever .bat
3) Update EPG

Although I must say, the update EPG button doesn't always work. Try deselecting the 'uklist.xml' file from the XMLTV settings, then going back in and choosing it again and then clicking update EPG.

Let me know how you get on!

mwtb,

No worries! I realised how frustrating it is setting it all up, and it didn't make sense for everyone to do the same arduous thing over and over! Are they gonna change the channel numbers?? I bloody well hope so! I mean, why on earth is Channel X on something like 13, Channel Y on 14 and Channel X+1 on 763?!! Bleedin' NTL! If Sub tells me what files to give, I can add to my link the list of channels and their numbers already filled out for NTL in the GB-PVR EPG.
Have fun!

Hi Joshley,

I was working on this last night again, and I have it all setup as I like it. One thing is the UTV channel has a channel number of 103.But when you go into the GBPVR the UTV is near the bottom, were it should be the third form the top of the list.

eg:- BBC1 ----- 101
BBC2 ----- 102
UTV ----- 103
Channel 4 ----- 104
Five ----- 105

As above this is the way it should be, but UTV is near the bottom of my list. I am not sure why this is.I have also checked the listing in the conf file and the utv is third on the list. Have you seen this problem?

Joe,

I haven't seen that as such... check your EPG list for any duplicate entries for 'UTV' or for '103'. What is UTV anyway?! Do you mean ITV ('U' and 'I' are very close on the keyboard [Image: cool.gif] ), or is it some special Sky thing?
