I have a WinTV 980 usb tv tuner that is not shown in the listings. I selected the the "Only show devices on my computer" and was shown the HVR 950. It appears to work and all the local channels were mapped out.

My issue is that I am getting no listing data. I have emptied and reloaded several times to no avail. I have attached the log. Please let me know if you can help. In addition when I try to use XML or ScheduleDirect I get an error that states that the EPG does not appear to be configured correctly. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Monty

Those logs show an attempt to use the DVB-EPG. There is no DVB EPG broadcast in the United States. Its used for broadcasting the EPG in countries outside of North America so wont help you.

You need to use either the XMLTV or Schedules Direct option. The former needs you to have created an xmltv file (using something like mc2xml). The latter requires you to have setup an account at http://www.schedulesdirect.org.

I don't know if the DVB-EPG feature of GBPVR can use it, but guide data is broadcast in the United States. My brother uses one of those digital-to-analog devices to tune digital programming, and the device has an EPG that spans a couple of hours or so into the future. It is not connected to a phone line or the internet in any way, so it must be getting the listings from the broadcast signal(s).

It only goes a couple of hours into the future so its not much cop for scheduling recordings and all that ... I seem to remember reading that is the reason why Sub hasn't built support for it into GBPVR.

Correct. I'm aware of this similar feature in the US, but unfortunately its only mandatory for the broadcasters to transmit three hours of listings, which makes it next to useless for a PVR. Some broadcasters transmit more than a few hours, but very very few. A few hours is not really enough to be usable in a PVR type of application, so I didnt bother wasting my time adding support for this.

In that part of the world you really need to use either xmltv or schedules direct.
