Sub, did you see the logs I posted above? Just want to make sure you saw them in case they might help you.

Looks like I posted in the middle of the board troubles. Sub, will you confirm if you saw the logs I posted above? Thanks.

I didnt see your previous post.

I'll have a look through your logs and reply a little later. I'm just in the middle of something at the moment.

No rush at all. Problem does not occur frequently. I posted the logs mostly to help you with it. I just wanted to make sure you saw them.

Do you find it's usually after a little while of watching? Fast forwarding at the start of a recorded show normally works ok for me

i've seen this happen - both with and without losing audio in the process. i have since re-enabled short skip and haven't had the problem since. and just to clarify, this is with the >> button, not the >| button. i didn't really pay much attention to the timeline at the top while it was happenning, but seeing cars racing in reverse on the screen told me it was going back instead of fwd.

i don't have an mvp hooked up (yet) - this is happenning on the pc itself.

My skip/misreporting length problem reoccurred when I starting using my MVP again. This time I applied the Hauppauge timestamp registry fixes. It appears to have solved the problem again. We shall see.

My video/audio stuttering problems I alluded to also appear to be a matter of setting a higher priority for the server's gbpvr client and the recording service higher than the mvp client server. They did not occur until I turned the MVP abck on. Sub and I dealt with this in a separate thread.

I'm having skipping problems when using the MVP and want to try anything that might improve it but I thought the registry settings were to do with new drivers for the PVR150 (which I do not have).

Are the registry settings you refer to above the PVR 150 driver ones or are there some other magic settings that might make my life better or do these settings affect more than just the PVR150.

Thanks in advance

My recent video stuttering problems were more with the server's TV display than the MVP's. My eventual mitigation of the server's display problem is found in this thread.

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=20425

However, I still have some trouble with the MVP skipping around randomly when I pressed FF/Rewind buttons. Some thoughts:

If it is mostly the MVP skipping of its own accord, you'll want to play with the prorities differently than I did--maybe increase the priority of the MVP's gbpvr.exe. Other than that, perhaps it is a network issue--I tweaked my network registry a bit using tipstr's advice... enabled the network processor, for instance...

Finally when I started to use the MVP in 98.8b, I noted that the new recordings had a misreported time length and random skipping when watching recordings on either the MVP or the server. I was able to address that one two ways, but the first solution failed after a week. First I reinstalled .net 2.0...and it seemed to work for about week--though I may not have had the MVP server enabled that week. When I know I turned the MVP back on again and it failed again, I then added the Hauppauge timestamp fixes to the registry and rebooted. [I was already using newer drivers and have both the 150 and 500]. So if you have a misreported length/timing problem along with your skipping problem then reinstalling .net 2.0 might be helpful, even if you aren't using Hauppauge stuff.

I still seem to ocasionally get odd skips when using my MVP remote. For instance this morning it fast forwarded an hour with one press of the long FF button. Wierd, and my wife was watching so I didn't check the log to see what happened. We restarted the recording and it worked fine.

I seem to be having problems similar to ones other people have noted in this thread.

When using the MVP, pressing the Skip generally works Ok, skip back hardly ever works, the video simply does not go back at all. Fast forward and rewind work but when you press stop or play after fast forwarding, it does not continue from quite the same point it should do (out by maybe 10 seconds). The reason this is irritating is because it is really awkward to skip through adverts now.

If I play back the same files using the Hauppage software then fast forward, rewind and skipping is perfect so it does not seem to be fault with the files themselves or the network.

I've reinstalled .Net and this made no difference.

I'll have a play with process priorities and network settings, thanks for your suggestions.

I wonder whether anyone is getting good skip behaviour with the MVP!
