Just as another point of reference, I've also experienced stuttering problems since upgrading to 98.08.

After trying a bunch of different things (different quartz.dlls, different configurations of video/audio decoders, etc.), I decided to roll back to 96.12 this morning.

I've already noticed that recorded programs that were stuttering under 98.08 seem smooth again. But I'll run some tests over the weekend on some hockey games, since they seem to really magnify the problem.

I'm interested to know what you find.

I've also been having some stuttering problems that seemed to have come out of nowhere some time ago, but it looks like raising the recording service priority (in config.xml) has helped. However, Sub doesn't recommend changing priorities because of the uncertain nature of other problems it might cause. So, I'd like to find a better solution -- even if it means rolling back a few versions to 96.12. (But, I've switched to the SQLite DB. I hope going back to Access is possible.)

Is it me, or does it seem that quite a few people are experiencing this stuttering problem?

BTW, I have two capture cards - PVR150 and Avermedia M150 - and both stutter. That is why I don't think it is the "PVR150 timestamp" problem.

One more thought/question. Were we using .net v1 or v2 back when 96.12 was the current release?

Thanks.

.net is some thing I upgraded to v2 back in May, so definitely puts it in the line up of targets for me. Is this something that is easy to roll back to try?

You can't roll back .Net.
.Net 2 and .Net 1.1 are two separate things, one is not an upgrade of the other.

Definately getting sick of the stuttering problem and going to great lengths myself to get to the bottom of it.

I recently tried upgrading my main GBPVR box to 98.08 and found Live TV jittery, dropping frames like crazy. On the same hardware, 96.08 worked just fine.

Yesterday I installed Boot Camp on a brand new 1.83ghz Core Duo Mac Mini, installed all my usual bits and pieces (AC3 filter, Nvidia PureVideo) and the Cyberlink Mux that came with AutoDVRconvert 1.3 and finally GBPVR 98.08. Nothing else was installed on the box at all except for drivers, AVG Antivirus and a bunch of windows patches. I connected my usual two tuners and rejoiced in stuttery, frame-dropping playback.

I wanted to try 96.08 on the same box, but ran out of time. If I get a minute tonight I'll wipe the windows partition on the box and do it again but this time with 96.08 - I bet a crisp fiver that Live TV playback will be smooth.

Regards
Dave

I assume you're running timeshift mode? If so, try this file to see if it helps.

Ok, I dont know then. It'll be something to do with your combination video decoder, video render, quartz.dll and audio decoder...

Which are all identical to my *working* earlier version of GBPVR. It doesn't make any sense to me.

I dont know what to tell you - its working fine for most people. Those things I identified above are the components that could cause this sort of problem.
