As far as I can tell it didnt start with 1.0.16. Some users have always reports these 4/6k files, particularly with the HDHomeRun.

Have you already tried setting the following in config.xml (suggested in a few threads):
<BDASubmitTuningRequestTwiceOnRecord>true</BDASubmitTuningRequestTwiceOnRecord>

The next step would be for someone that owns an HDHomeRun to take a good look at the HDHomeRun logs to see why its not tuning to the channel when requested.

Just saw that a new beta release of the bda drivers for the HDHomeRun were released on Oct 7th with the following notes:

HDHomeRun software release 20071006beta2
* Solution for random no-signal errors in MCE.
* Solution for rare but systematic no-signal errors in MCE caused by PID numbering patterns between channels.

I'm going to give this a try tonight to see if it resolves the intermittent recording problems.

I just upgraded to the HVR1600 and this is the first I've tried to record QAM. For me, none of my recordings workwith the digital part of this tuner, ever. At least not in gbpvr/pvrx2. I can record with WinTV, but that sucks and I'd rather get this working.

That fixed it, well most of it. now I can record, but if I pause live TV pvrx2 still freezes. Any other setting I can switch to fix this?

EDIT: Well I just figured out that the recording service didn't crash, just the UI. Apparently it continued to record live TV well after I shutdown pvrx2 through the task manager. Odd.

If the recording seems to be growing fine, then this is most likely caused by the audio or video decoder's you're using. (it could also be the mux, with HVR1600 you're probably best to use the Microsoft DVR-MS mux)

Last night was the first time that all recordings completed successfully. I've got my fingers crossed that the new HDHR beta resolved the issue. One more night and bye bye cable.

If you are referring to the HDHR, it's now 2 nights in a row with no failures. If you have an HDHR I suggest you download and install the new 20071007beta2drivers.
