The patch breaking comskip was of course from me completely uninstalling and deleting GBPVR somewhere along the line to make sure the install was good and thinking comskip was fully built-in. Rolleyes
I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:

Sub, installed the patch and turned off UseBuiltInTSReader and .ts files seem to playing fine. No sync probs so far. Thanks

Can you jump around the timeline fine while recording, or is mine the only one with the problem?

My Hauppauge Nova-T USB2 gives me .mpg files when recording in GB-PVR. The .ts files I was having trouble playing were transferred from my stand-alone Humax 9200t PVR so I'm afraid I can't comment. Sorry.

Just a couple of thoughts, firstly are you using WinXP or Vista? if so have you tried turning off the disk indexing? Secondly does your anti-virus have something like 'on access' scanning that scans each file as you open it? Both of these are automatically turned off on my machines but I could see that they might cause problems if left on.
