here is the complete easy to follow tutorial on how to do a repair install of Windows XP.

You will need a Windows XP CD

http://www.windowsreinstall.com/winxppro...llpage.htm

Good luck!

Special Tip:
If you have a Windows XP disc but don't remember your CD Key you can use this tool to retreive the key from your computer
http://magical-jelly-bean-keyfinder.en.softonic.com/

Note - use the keyfinder on the current XP installation to get the key and write it down before you repair install.

Your XP CD must be the same version as your current OS install- example - XP Home

OK, thank you for the great info. Looks pretty easy, hopefully it will go smoothly. although I've already discovered my XP CD is scratched to heck and pci.sys file was corrupted. Who knows what other files were damaged. So I'm currently downloading the iso again since I have since deleted it. I'll try this afternoon to see how it goes... I gues I should switch my BIOS to ACPI before running the reinstall?

Ok, everyhting went perfectly!! I think it mainly had something to do with the dual core processor. because the before and after of the system drivers look so different, the after was flooded with dual core resources and acpi stuff. either way, it is an acpi PC now, and my videos are playing fine.

Now I'm just having an issue playing my netflix stuff in WMP, but i think I'll hit the netflix watch now plugin board for that issue.

Thanks guys so much for your help, my HTPC lives on as a result!
