I'll try the one prior & see if things are better - I have to use a fairly recent version to get comskip H.264 files
GBPVR v1.4.7
Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit)
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.33 GHz
4 GB RAM, 160GB system drive
640GB recording drive
PVR-500 - analog cable stations
HDHomeRun - ASTC via antenna
nVidia GeForce 8600GT
1 PCH @ 1080p componenent (was NTSC via composite)
1 PCH @ 1080p HDMI (was component)

I doubt if the comskip version really matters, it just creates a text file and in this case it looks pretty good. I got the sample too and it has a fantastic timeline so I can't expect that this is a problem. The only thing that I could think of that maybe sub could investigate in the code is how a commericial cut at the beginning a file affects things especially when resume is involved.

I wasn't happy at all about the way that this played on mvpmcx2 until I tried to play it on the PCH natively, it wouldn't play video and stops at the one error in the file that exists 30 seconds in. So I tried it on mpc hc and I noted the really bad lip sync in the first Cherry Hill commercial just after 12 minutes in that I thought was PCH related too. I think it is basically an HD PVR isse (there is decoding pixelization in mpc hc too) Perhaps try AC3 audio instead of AAC to see if this is a audio driver issue.

Thanks Martin. I'll try removing the first cut & see if it makes a difference

Does the HD-PVR do AC3? If so, anybody know how to configure it to do so?

UPDATE: Simply deleting the first cut made a difference - oddly, while every recording that gave me problems had a cut at the beginning, not every recording that that had a cut at the beginning gives problems... Regardless, for now, I'll try to whip up something in PostProcessing that deletes the first cut if it's at the beginning.

I was going through the readme for version 0.80.023 (the version I've been using) & noticed that Eric added support for two additional parameters in comskip.ini

always_keep_first_seconds & always_keep_last_seconds.

So I added a line to comskip.ini & told it to always keep the first 10 seconds.

We'll see if this clears up the problem.

I saw removing this helped me get around resume issues in beta testing, but I'd expect with pre-padding most shows will start with commercials so if some files worked I figure that it won't fix other problems.

Since I added "always_keep_first_seconds=10" to comskip.ini, I haven't had any issues - I even re-ran comskip on the file I sent you & playback is fine.

I DID notice that if I "resume" on that file, I end up with the same problem (jumps to beginning of recording & time indicator stays at the end of the file).

My hunch is that it has to do with rough channel changes at the start of the recording. I used to use firewire to change channels & changing was extremely smooth. I had to request a replacement from comcast because the tuner went bad & the replacement didn't have a firewire port, so now I have to use the ir blaster that came with the HD-PVR - channel changing is not nearly as clean - it often appears that the recording has frozen for a split second.

I can't prove this because I don't think I have any recordings left from when I had the old STB, but I don't recall having this issue before the replacement.
