Don't worry, DVR-MS playback WILL work with the MPEG-2 decoder set to System Default.
(if it doesn't, have a look in your PVRX2-Native log to see what mpeg-2 decoder was used... if it's not the one you wanted you'll need to change your filter merits or uninstall the undesired decoder, or even re-install the desired one... usually the last one installed is the default).
I just sent you down the wrong path with de-registering the flow status filter. I hadn't considered how many other places the flow status filter is used and non-optional. Again, sorry for your wasted time.
I'm in the same boat as you regarding comskip. Once I switched to DVR-MS and enabled comskip, it became THE killer feature here. On the occaision that we watch an old non-comkipped recording, having to skip manually seems really bizarre and old-school now.
