No, not at all. Infact I have 16:9 plasma as my main tv. I dont think you quite understand what I'm saying.

I'll give a couple more examples. Keep in mind these screenshot represent the entire TV screen, there is no further zooming or stretching needs to be applied. These are EXACTLY WHAT YOU'LL SEE ON YOUR 16:9 TV. The top-left pixel of the screenshot is the top-left of your tv. the bottom-right of the screenshot is the bottom-right of tv. Nothing is cropped.

As a 16:9 tv owner, under the current GB-PVR scheme, this is what viewing a 4:3 video would like. The aspect ratio pillarboxes the video so it is the correct aspect ratio. The OSD still fills the screen.

This is what the scheme you are suggesting would show. Notice the OSD at the bottom doesnt go to the edge of your 16:9 TV.

Also, picture a 2.35:1 video on a 16:9 TV - the OSD would move up the screen leaving a big black bar at the top and the bottom. I would prefer the OSD stays where it normally is, and never moves, regardless of wher the video has to be shown to maintain the correct aspect ratio.

16:9 content on 16:9 tv would look exactly the same under both schemes, with video and OSD filling the screen.

I don't really care if the OSD takes up the whole 16:9 screen (1st example) or is pillarboxed 4:3 to the video window (2nd example).

My primary concern is the ability to zoom/stretch the video window which appears identical without the display corruption that currently occurs for nvidia VMR9 users.

It appears the other apps given as examples that allow zoom/stretching without corruption all have the OSD's contained within the video window.

I agree with all this. I think what I'm trying to do is the best for the user, but the nvidia drivers dont seem to cope well with it when DXVA is enabled. There will need to be some workaround provided to allow nvidia users a clean non-corrupt image. As soon as this nvidia from Limiter arrives, I'll come up with something, even if it is an option to do it this other scheme.

Thanks for all this. I can send you a 7300GS if required but it's PCI-E.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm assuming the AGP card from Limiter will also have the problem, so I should be good to go.

not sure if this will help but i was having issues with my 6600 and the nvidia purevideo decoder, and went into gbpvrs config, then the decoders config and turned off a few things (i think the deinterlace and something else, left hardware assitance on) and now nvidia works fine.

Thanks reven, yes turning of hardware acceleration gets rid of the problem but I need that on for smooth 1080i playback.

I've also have a play with some of the advanced features of the purevideo decoders exposed using these registry settings.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Filters\Video]
"EnablePropPage"=dword:00000001
"PureVideoPropPage"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Filters\Audio]
"EnablePropPage"=dword:00000001
