For some reason when I run a couple of my roms through gamezone, I get a message that the game was not made for the Super Nes or Famicon system. I don't get this if I invoke from the command line or if I load the rom from the emulator interface. I did notice that these Roms are PAL versions.

I changed the config to PAL and now those few roms work fine. Trouble is I think I have some NTSC and some PAL roms.

So, it looks like it is a PAL/NTSC issue. I don't set anything on the command line for PAL versus NTSC so the emulator must figure it out since they work fine from the command line or the emulator interface.

In the config app, I have to set one or the other and if I have it set for NTSC some of my PAL roms don't work and display this message, some actually work for whatever reason. Instead of PAL or NTSC can we have a no preference as well that doesn't try to force PAL or NTSC? I think that will fix the trouble

That sounds like a smart idea, I will add it tonight when I get home from work.

Item 1. I have decided that the sub-directory support is far too hard with Mame and Zinc, both of which need to look up data in the database prior to displaying the ROMs. So I have admitted defeat on those two emulators for the time being and will release GameZone 0.41 with sub-directory support for the other Emulators.

Item 2. I am hoping that I have found the issue that some have been having with an error message and an empty ROM list being displayed, however I dont get the issue myself so its kinda hard to be sure I have found it.

Item 3. The loging of the database generation has been changed to log to the standard config.exe.log which is what I believe causes the problem with pre GBPVR 99.05 releases.

Item 4. I will have added an Auto to ZSnes for format so this will just not stipulate on the command line if it is PAL or NTSC.

I will put it in this forum as just a gamezone.dll change and update the wiki with a 4.1 patch as well.

Cheers

I installed GameZone 0.3 a few weeks ago, and just installed 0.4 today. I run GB-pvr on the 2nd display (my tv), while the 1st display is a computer screen. When I run the emulators, they don't open on the tv, they always open on the computer screen. Is there a way to specify for them to run on display 2? The emulators work, I just would like them on my TV.

That is unfortuantely down to the emulator to support; some do and some dont

Hi,

Here is the latest patch for GameZone.

Whats New?

1. Sub-directory support for all emulator except Mame and Zinc.
2. I am hoping that I have found the issue that some have been having with an error message and an empty ROM list being displayed, however I dont get the issue myself so its kinda hard to be sure I have found it.
3.changed to the standard config.exe.log which is what I believe causes the problem with pre GBPVR 99.05 releases.
4. added an Auto option to ZSnes for format.
5. fixed a bug with favourites that prevented first item from being seen.

I will add this to the wiki if I am not hearing any problems in the next 48 hours so if you try the patch and it works for you, please drop me a line

Thanks

Zsnes seems to be half broken. Most of my roms don't work now from the gamezone interface but they all work from the command line or the emulator load. I tried PAL and Auto and no difference, they just lock up. The game that is normally listed on the rom info screen that first comes up, has a bunch of diamonds instead of the game name on the ones that fail.
Do you write out the command line used to invoke zsnes somewhere so I can look why it's failing?
EDIT: I see it in the gbpvr log so I'm checking what's up.

EDIT AGAIN: OK I see the trouble. My rom extensions are zip|smc. When the program launches it loads up an .srm extension for some reason. That file is in the directory but it isn't an extension I specified.

here is the line in question:
ameZone: ZSnes emulator launched zsnesw.exe -s -z -k 60 -u -v 6 "e:\snes\roms\Donkey Kong Country 2.srm"
Here is the contents the file from the paths\zsnes dir
zip|smc;e:\snes\roms

I thought I read that a .srm is a saved rom, file its a memory dump of where someone was when they played the game. I would try temp removing the .srm file and seeing what happens.

"EDIT AGAIN: OK I see the trouble. My rom extensions are zip|smc. When the program launches it loads up an .srm extension for some reason. That file is in the directory but it isn't an extension I specified."

I will look into why you can see the .srm file in the first place.

EDIT: I added a post with the new patch that should remove the error that was introduced when I added sub-directory support, please try and provide feedback.

Cheers

Please try this as it should now sort out the issues which were introduced with support for sub-directorys. The file-patterns were not being filtered on instead a filter of all files in the directory was being used.

Thanks
