Cable Company
Signal level in dBmV if possible

I doubt if it's version, drivers or signal strength I assume we are running the latest Hauppauge beta and in my experience if it runs well in WinTV the signal won't be an issue, GBPVR picks up signals at a lower threshold.

I am running Vista, and the cableco Rogers, uses Scientific Atlanta SARA as delivery. All QAM-256 and no HD. I left a review of the quality on the Hardware forum.

GBPVR does NOT find any digital stations on my system.

I'm running Windows XP Home Edition (service pack 2), on a 3ghz Pentium 4, with 512Meg of RAM. My video card is an older Nvidia Riva TNT2 Model 64.

I have two HVR-1600 tuner cards (both are revision number 74021), with the latest 3.4d1 driver (1.62.25129.0) from Hauppauge.

WinTV found 49 channels when scanning. The suite manager in WinTV shows the signal level at roughly 12 bars out of the 14 available (86%), and it locks on the signal.

The devices screen in WinTV says my tuner cards are both model 74021, Rev C1B2. Other than the serial number and Mac address, I don't see any differences in the two cards.

If there's any other information I can supply that will help track this down, please let me know.

Can one of you guys let me have VNC access again? I've got something I'd like to try.

Ah ha! We've had some success on Kevbo's machine using a patch.

Can you try placing the attached NativeUtilities.dll file in gbpvr directory, and the qam.ini file in "C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\BDA\ATSC", replacing the existing files of the same name, then try scanning again and let me know?

I applied the patches, and it scans (too many channels to count! lol) every channel, and plays back nicely in gbpvr. Worked great for me. Big Grin

Oh, and it's finding way more channels than WinTV did, albeit 90% are encrypted. Some unblocked ones are showing through here, like 'ESPN PPV'.

Its working for me to. I'm going to have to remap all my channels, but it looks like it will be about the same. I got used to the old format but this will be easier to map to my cable box. I seem to remember the little TV window showing more video during a scan with the older method, now it just stayed black.

I was able to tweak qam.ini to add 6 channels where my cableco uses an odd channel. When I was editing the qam.ini, the top channel frequencies seem out of wack with the rest.
