It doesn't matter where vidimport is located. I usually invoke it by dragging a directory or file onto it.

I'll put some more logging on the command lines selected and release one that should help debug further.

What a great tool! I never seem to have anything in my recordings directory, due to reinstalling, moving to different PC's, moving the video files, or just plain mucking it up.
After a few minutes with vidimport, I have every recording back in the directory - even the first one ever recorded by GBPVR in those dim and distant days (well, last year actually).

Thank you to the author.

Thanks, I appreciate the help. I'll also fiddle with my batch file in the meantime; perhaps if I specify the xmlin= instead of relying on defaults it'll work better.

Almost forgot to post this - it recaps the selected options to the console before starting up.

Quick Question
Seasons
Let's say I have a couple seasons of my favorite show.

I've been importing them into Movie Wiz, but that lends itself more to movies, not so much to shows.

I'd like to try vidImport, but am wondering, how does it handle seasons. Can/Does it group episodes by season? (I have most of my shows in \Show Name\Season #\Episode#.avi format)

I'm guessing it's limited by PVRX2's abilities in the Recordings screen. What are your thoughts?

It should group them by season# - backup you Dbase before running though,

Check the wiki - this version is a significant improvement for those who download series.

If the filenames look something like s01e01 or s01x01 etc. it will do a tv listing lookup to get the episode name and description. It then creates a list for the GBPVR recordings screen with a title of series_name.s01 and sub titles of e01:episode name.

To purge the database of previous listings rename your video directory temporarily - restart the recordingService. Then rename your video directory back to the old name and run vidImport.

As always if their is not season or gbpvr syntax it will group based on like names or by a directory.

For example if you have a subdirectory called sci_fi with cypher.avi, aliens.mpg and they_live.mkv it will create a group in gbpvr recordings called sci_fi with each file listed separately while also doing an IMDB lookup to get a description of each file.

I should mention it won't quite work the way you want - since your directories are showName\Season#\Episode#.avi it will create a grouping called season# with the episode#'s as subtitles. This would be very confusing.

However, if you use a directory structure and syntax like showName-s01\ep02-epTitle.avi it will work

How about this:
I have ShowName\Seasion#\ShowName_S01_E01_EpisodeTitle.avi

I got weird results, so I switched to this:
ShowName\Seasion#\ShowName_S01_EpisodeTitle_E01.avi
I get something like this: (trying only XML, not doing Import yet.)
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<recordings>
<recording>
<filename>D:\Video\Flipper\Season 1\Flipper_S01_300 Feet Below_E01.avi</filename>
<channel>IMPORT</channel>
<status>READY</status>
<startTime>2008-04-24 01:00:00</startTime>
<endTime>2008-04-24 02:00:00</endTime>
<title>Flipper_S01_</title>
<subtitle>300 Feet Below_E01</subtitle>
<description>
Boy Sandy and Dolphin Flipper are in the Bahamas where they pester a bunch of outlaws holding an English family captive. | </description>
<uid />
<group>1001</group>
</recording>

The first is preferable but with a twist - I detect episode strings with a bunch of regex's that are all centered around a season number and episode number right next to each other.

I suspect your issue is the "_" between the s01_e01. I can probably work 'that into the regex's but I'd have to take a look and see that it wouldn't detect false positives. In the meantime, if you use showName_s01e01_Episode or showName.s01e01.episodeName it should work. In that case the directory name won't even matter.

The second type will never work (Flipper_S01_300 Feet B_E01) since the episode name can be almost anything and may include digits and underbars, I am surprised that came up with anything.
