Yeah, pBS actually discovered the setting with a K-World card here and on a whim, I ran a registry scan and found that the Pinnacle devices used the same setting. The only difference seems to be that with Pinnacle, the QAM setting sticks even after disconnecting and reconnecting the device.

Hey Whurlston and sub,
Thanks for the information and screen shots. I took a look in the location mentioned, but unfortunately I do not have a ATSCMode. There wasn't even a "settings" entry. Also, entry 0013 is my second Pinnacle PCTV HD 800i card. Here are some screen shots of my registry editor: Thanks again! Corey Kinard

Interesting. Try changing "DemodType" to 2. You may need to reboot after changing it.

Hey Whurlston,
Thanks for the help, unfortunately changing "DemodType" to 2 caused Vista to boot to a BSOD. No biggie, was able to revert back in safe mode. So, I am done. I am taking back both of these cards today. I have ordered a Silicon Dust HDHomeRun box from Amazon and should be in tomorrow. Hopefully I will have better luck with this hardware and GB-PVR. Thanks again guys! Corey Kinard

I just ran into this thread tonight. I'm trying to get this software running as well. I have the Pinnacle PCTV HD Pro Stick (801e). This is just a slight bit different than the 801e SE that was previously discussed. I've tried the bda chunks you posted earlier, but no luck. If I check the installed cards only box, it shows "Pinnacle 2000e Dual DVB-T Tuner1". This will initialize the USB stick, but it doesn't find any channels. I've tried changing the DVB-T part in the bda.ini file for this card to ATSC, but that didn't work either. I can never get any channels found. This works just fine in the Pinnacle software, but that is junk. I would love it if you could help me with this.
I'm also attaching a filtercheck.log. Thanks for your help!
Uncheck the installed only box and look through the entries. You should have "Pinncale HD Stick Pro" and "Pinncale HD Stick Pro (QAM)". If not, add the following to your bda.ini:
Code: [Pinnacle HD Stick Pro]

Whurlston,
Thanks for the info. I added those lines in, and tried them both. Both of them will initialize the stick, but neither of them will find any channels. It is the same problem I had before. Any other ideas? I'm feeling more and more sorry that I bought a Pinnacle stick.

I'll do that when I get home from work in a few hours. Thanks for looking into it.
Regarding the Pinnacle crap, unfortunately I didn't know all this before. I bought the stick (the only brand carried at Best Buy) and had since had problems with their software. I thought I'd try your software before spending the money on something else. |
