Here's a screen shot of the GB-PVR view. For some reason Snagit just shows a black screen when I try to capture Tuning Asst, but the color and everything looks correct (like a normal TV) with Tuning Assistant.

I read somewhere that GBPVR doesn't require an especially fast machine just for normal viewing, but if that's not correct it could be that my comp is contributing to the problem. it's an 800MHz PIII with 256 MB RAM. I'm in the process of building a new machine and the rest of the parts should arrive in a day or two, so if power is the problem, it should be taken care of soon. If the problem is something else, I'd love to hear any ideas that anyone has on how to fix it.

Thanks

Your machine is slow, but I doubt thats the cause.

Maybe try switching to Overlay instead of VMR?

More info..

I've tried manually tuning the card a couple ways:
-entering the frequency from the tuning assisstant into the capture sources channel listing page.
-entering the frequency into the microsoft registry entry for the channel I've got problems with.

The resulting behavior is pretty odd: The channel I've been testing is cable 15. When I try either of these changes I end up tuning into cable 14 for both channels 14 and 15. The listing still is correct, but audio and video are both for channel 14.

I think I must be doing something wrong.. will try again and see if multiple reboots, etc make a difference.

Also of interest - I trashed all the drivers and everything, and reinsalled using a "lite cd" installation from the SHSPVR website. Audio was restored on two channels that didn't work before.

Will try the new driver litecd released today and see how that works.

There is a known bug in the current version of the tuning assistant which means it shows the frequency from the last channel it tried, not the current one. Its fixed in the next release.

Well, still no luck with working around the audio problem. I wiped the system clean and installed the latest litecd release from shspvr, and actually lost audio on two more channels. Grr.

Couldn't get fine-tuning to do much. I ran the tuning assisstant, and used the frequency from the next channel up on the list, and was able to get the desired channel, albeit with no audio. Changing the frequency one way or another doesn't seem to make any difference.

Also of interest, does anyone know how to extract frequencies from WinTV2000 or WinTV32? FreqCopy doesn't seem to do it, and the registry entries for WinTv are all binary strings that don't seem to store any requency information (just the channel name and number as far as I can tell).

I'm going to pick up a different 150 unit on my way home and see if new hardware makes a difference.. I'll take back the first one if it does and let you know the serial/rev number off the new board and whether or not it works tonight.. more info is good, right?

Well, it's not the solution you'll want to hear...

I took the damn thing back to the store, and bought a new 150 from a different store (hoping to get a different tuner revision).

Installed the new card, booted the machine, and it works perfectly on the first try with the old drivers and system exactly the way they were.

Guess Hauppauge has some QA issues to work out. Rolleyes

I have the same problem, different channels...So what is the new card rev that works??
