Sub,
I also suspect the current method in example one would interfere with automatic picture size adaptation features on some widescreen TV's.

If people wanted to use their tv's automatic picture adaptation stuff, then then should just leave the aspect ratio to "fill". I've turned off this feature of my TV since I added automatic aspect ratio control.

Hi Sub,

I just installed 0.97.7 and am having weird issues with the automatic aspect ratio. I have an ATI Radeon 9600 card and a 4:3 TV. I am using VMR9 and tired both the intervideo and nero decoders. Here is a sample of what I am seeing:

As you can see, it has some weird purple bars and the video looks like it has been 16:9'd and 16:9'd again. If I use the aspect button, I can get it to play normally.

Any suggestions? Otherwise, this was a great release!

Thanks,
Paul

What type of video are you playing (AVI / MPEG)?

Ooops. It is a divx .avi file. I tired some 4:3 divx files and they work great.

Thanks,

What resolution is the video?

Does it contain forced letterbox - ie black bars top and bottom as part of the picture?

Are you using the 'auto' aspect ratio? Make sure by deleting the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\devnz\LastAspectRatio registry setting, or setting it to zero.

It is 640x272. There are no black bars on the source video. I can cycle through the aspect modes and it will play correctly in the widescreen mode. It is just the auto stuff that is not quite workin' right.

The reg key is already set to 0.

Thanks,
Paul

Can you reproduce it then post your gbpvr.exe-native.log.

What renderer are you using?

I'm not really sure what is going on there. Are you in a position to make a small video available to me?

I am curious what that strange purple colouration is outside of the video.
