That fixed the trouble. It also fixed the trouble with the PAL/NTSC issue I was seeing.
Thx.

It works great now! I was able to build the database and I can play all the emulators now.

One question, on the Znes emulator, when I press ESC it brings up the menu and I have to select Quit to exit. Is there another exit key I am missing. I thought I read something about the decimal being the exit key?

Thanks for the update!

I tried to get my Hauppauge remote to send the escape when I hit the back key but for some reason Zsnes sees it as some other character about 90% of the time and doesn't react to the escape. It was getting something since when I put the cursor on the rom input line of the menu, each time I hit the remote it moved over one space and didn't print anything. Once in a while it would react to the escape and close the rom load window.
The dos window sees the escape everytime and reacts correctly, just zsnes doesn't, arghh...

Anyway I think the decimal key (which isn't on my Hauppage remote) closes the process.
I think you can change the key in the
devnz\gbpvr\KeyMappings\gamezone.xml file.

Hi guys,

The Decimal is referring to the key that you need to send to gamezone not the key on the remote control. In most remote control applications you can choose which key is sent when a remote control key is pressed.
An example would be you press the 'back' key on your remote and the key received by GBPVR is the 'ESC' key this mapping is done on the PC with the IR receiver.

I have my MCE remote set that I press the 'RED' key which is mapped by HIP to send the DECIMAL key to GBPVR. I hope thats not more confusing....

Thats really cool, was that on GBPVR 98.x ?

If so that means Mame 112 and GBPVR 98.x have a tick against them now :-)

Yeah I understand the mapping part of the remote. The Hauppauge doesn't currently send the decimal key for any of the buttons, but it can be changed to do that in the irremote.ini file. I think I might be able to map the # or the * to the decimal and get that to work. I think they are unused.

EDIT: Actually there is one confusing part. FOr the Hauppauge it changes what is sent based on what app is running, or a default. Wouldn't any key I send from the remote just get picked up by MAME or whatever emulator is running. How does gamezone see the key also?

I mapped the text key to send the .
I tested it on zsnes on the rom line of the menu and it does receive the . when I press the text key.
It doesn't stop the program though. The Hauppauge remote only sends the key to the current app with focus. Is that the same for your remote?

No I use HIP and that sends the key to GBPVR, if you can only send to the current app in focus then why not just send the ESC key?

That works for Mame but for some reason, zsnesw ignores the escape key from the remote about 90% of the time and sees it as another keystroke. I have no idea why. I tried sending the escape to other apps and they always react to the escape correctly. Zsnesw does react to the escape over vnc and with my wireless keyboard perfectly. For some reason it just doesn't like when I send it from the Hauppauge.
I tried sending a different char to zsnes and of course it always sees that perfectly. Weird..

Yes, I am still using 98.13 and I think MAME 111b. Pastro said it works fine with MAME 112b though so I will update tonight and try it.

Thanks!
