Awesome!

Quote:Oh, and it's finding way more channels than WinTV did, albeit 90% are encrypted. Some unblocked ones are showing through here, like 'ESPN PPV'.
I wish there was away I could identify which channels are encrypted, but I havnt found a way yet. It would certainly make the process simpler.

mvallevand Wrote:Its working for me to. I'm going to have to remap all my channels, but it looks like it will be about the same. I got used to the old format but this will be easier to map to my cable box. I seem to remember the little TV window showing more video during a scan with the older method, now it just stayed black.

I was able to tweak qam.ini to add 6 channels where my cableco uses an odd channel. When I was editing the qam.ini, the top channel frequencies seem out of wack with the rest.
Good to hear its working for you too.

In the long run, the default qam.ini will probably go back to using the channel number format, so that it doesnt break things for the OnAirGT, but I'll use lookup table to translate channel numbers to frequencies if the user is using a Hauppauge QAM card.

The users will able to tweak qam.ini to add additional frequency if they need them though (in the frequency format used in this patch).

Vista. Looks like you've already solved the problem, though.

Sorry martin, I accidentally deleted you post. I hit 'edit' instead of 'quote'!
mvallevand Wrote:That would be good. I'm still not sure you saw my question about problems with channels 126 and higher. I think those should be in the 800Mz range.

Also I'm not sure why your frequency is different from the TSReader and my STB frequency. They are both 1750 Hz higher which allows for 3 digit entry Mhz entry.
I'm in no way sure about the frequencies in that qam.ini. I just used the values in the first frequency table that google turned up. If you have an accurate list of frequencies, including 126+, I'd be interested in knowing.

Good news: GBPVR now locates many stations when scanning my digital QAM stations! Excellent work.

Bad news: The preview window only works occasionally. It either shows a black screen (on a known unencrypted station that previously previewed fine) or it shows a frozen image of the last station that previewed OK. I tried "Live TV" in GBPVR, and all I get is static on the screen for any of the digital stations (static on digital? Weird.).

So, it's great it finds the stations now, but I still can't tune in the stations for watching or recording. Therefore, it's still a no-go for me.

Incidently, WinTV acts about the same way for me. Sometimes I can tune a station, other times it just shows a black screen.

I have two HVR-1600's. It seems one should work even if the other is defective in some way. But I get the same results with both cards.

What now?

If you're seeing static, then you're using the analog tuner. When you check, you'll probably find the channels in question are enabled in your analog capture source.

If you reproduce the problem then post the logs, then I can confirm for you.

Just continue the 6Mhz jumps. I have 134 in case you want it, TSReader supports it.
Code:
126=805250,0,125
127=811250,0,126
128=817250,0,127
129=823250,0,128
130=829250,0,129
131=835250,0,130
132=841250,0,131
133=847250,0,132
134=853250.0,133

One of my points is I'd like the frequency to match what I see on my cable box and on TSReader which is in Mhz 1750 Hz higher than you show. There would be few chances for error. Here is a screen of sample diagnostics

The other main issue was these weird names assigned for one block, it doesn't seem to have logic behind it

That would be typical for the premium content that is On Demand or PPV. These may be the stations you want the most but they won't always be on.

If you have a digital station that as an analog equivalent, GBPVR will tune the analog based on the guide.

You should consider adding only core 7/24 channels.

Digital signals are very susceptible to signal strength. Just to install my digital STB the cableco had to install a signal booster. If you run to your PC with a split and then you split it 2 or 4 times for these (assuming you feed the analog side too) you are begging for trouble.

So that patch works great sub, Thanks! I can now also get the channels I couldn't using the Hauppauge WinTV app. (2 more HD channels than ATSC, Universal HD and Discovery HD Theater :eek: :drool: )

sub is the man.

For those trying to get the channels working, or are having an issue with the encrypted channels getting messing things up, try to figure out exactly what channel blocks are clear, and what channels broadcast on those. A good place to find info like that is your local avsforum thread, or if you know somone that uses QAM on their TVs without a cable box or CableCard.

I knew the exact blocks I can get my channels on and whatnot because I'm using the QAM tuner in my TV, so I just check the channel on GBPVR and match it with that. I also noticed that channels that have multiple audio streams come up as separate channels in the list, depending on how many audio streams it contains.

Just returned from vacation and thanks to all the help here and the new qam.ini, etc. have my local HD channels over QAM. Now if only zap2it weren't down! Thanks to everyone who's contributed!
