and is there a way to keep the tv infront of the taskbar on the bottom without setting th etaskbar to fall behind all windows?
i just want it to look like i'm watching tv
thanks

thanks sub

I recorded a few HD programs and the playback seems choppy, not so bad i can't watch but noticeable
I'm pretty sure it's on the playback and not the recording
Also, the sound will get off slightly sometimes but if i pause then play it fixes it

Any ideas or threads i should look at?

Edit: just so u know i haven't tried to record analog so i don't know if this is any better

another question: why does GB use .ts files? couldn't it just take the mpeg-2 stream and save it directly from the input to the hard drive?
Is there changes i can make to attempt to get the best quality recording?

That is exactly what it does. Digital TV is broadcast as an "MPEG2 transport stream", which is the .ts format you get on disk.

The MPEG2 specification details two MPEG2 formats. "Program Stream" which is the .mpg files you're probably thinking of, which was designed for VCDs and DVDs, and "Transport Stream" which is designed for broadcast television. The latter is what your tuner card receives, and ends up written to disk as a .ts file.

For those that dont like using this file format, GB-PVR allows users to select other mux files. The "TS Mux" option is the default and records unmodified .ts files. The Cyberlink and ATI options remux the incoming stream to a .mpg file. The DVR-MS Mux option remuxes to a .dvr-ms file.

When you record digital TV, the quality of the recording (bitrate/resolution etc) is set by the broadcaster.

I'm sure this will be caused by the decoders and/or renderers you're using, so try other ones of these.

whats the difference between a decoder and a renderer?
better yet what does a renderer do? cuz i guess i know what a decoder is
cuz i am still getting a little pixelation or blurring on fast camera movement
not terrible but noticeable and definitely worse than the tv's tuner
