sub,

I tried downloading indexes.zip and a pop-up appears that the file is corrupted. When I tried again I was able to download it but I can't open the zip file and the file corrupted error appears.

Should I be able to open the zip file or should I have to change the file to an .exe file.

Thanks

Some Internet Explorer users have problems downloading zip file attachments from this web server. Try downloading it with some other browser.

I sent you the gbpvr.db3 file with 15 days of EPG data just now.

After that I reduced the number of days down to 5 and going into the TV guide and bringing up the guide while watching Live TV is VERY fast. So fast that I would say that it does not justify why there is such a slow down when there is 15 days of data. Where talking times somewhere in the range:
5 days: <1 second
15 days: 30-60 seconds

Sub,

I know you are busy with catching up after your vacation (hope you had fun too), I was just wondering if you had any other ideas regarding this. I have the indexes in the DB, and the guide is still very slow after first starting gbpvr, and also every couple of hours it seems, going back into the guide (from the main menu or during live tv) it does the same thing, lots of disk activity, and during live tv the video and sound jump, stop and eventually get out of sync. Thanks for all of the work and support.

A little over 300 channels and 7 days of EPG data. I'm guessing that's just a crapload of data to load. Does GBPVR cache the guide data and then after so long expires the cache and reloads on the next guide display? That's how it seems as the initial load is very slow, then it is perfect for 2-3 hours, then the slow load again, then perfect. I will go through my channel lineups and deselect the groups of channels that I don't subscribe to from my cable company and see if that has any effect. Thanks.

Can you try the attached patch? It should help with the guide refresh that occurs every two hours.

Sub,

I copied over the above patch and it still has the delay every couple of hours when hitting the guide button. I cut down my channel listing on Zp2It from over 300 channels to about 150 and dropped my EPG days to 5, but I haven't had a time to clear out the epg and start over (wife set a few programs to record so I don't want to lose the schedules right now as we are going out of town). I will play with it when we get back and see how it goes with the reduced EPG load.

Sub, I tried that patch as well as I have a little over 230 channels... even with my EPG at 4 days I still have the same problem that Brian mentioned...
not sure if you need logs or need to see it for yourself... but its pretty easy to replicate..

Tried the patch here and it takes 58 seconds to load 11 days of zap2it data for Directv, 200 + channels. It's great after the initial load but watch a movie and load the guide and the delay is there again. I also notice that the mini guide (while watching video) has its own delay which seems to be a different array it's loading than the EPG, but once it is loaded it pops right up as well for a couple of hours.
Just a thought, would it be a possible solution to make the EPG and mini guide updates a configurable item, say every 8 hours or whatevever the user wants?

I noticed stuttering in recordings during times when the EPG was doing the 1 minute load but setting the MVP to low priority seems to have fixed that.
