I applied this fix last night and it worked great. I have an ATI 1950 Pro card and had it setup before to switch the TV to the primary display which would mess up all my icons on the desktop as it would go to a resolution of 800x600. With this fix the TV can stay as the second monitor and I can use my main LCD monitor while GBPVR is playing and not have any of my icons messed up Smile

What do you guys use for the Video Renderer under the Playback tab...Overlay Manager, VMR7, or VMR9? I am using VMR9 right now.

First i want to tell you i was looking for a Media Center solution that worked on the second monitor. I tried Media Portal but it was too much of a hassle with changing primary and secondary output. Then i tried Vista MCE, it works on the TV but you can't do anything on your Monitor because it locks the focus. I tried the previous of GBPVR and it worked and was what i was looking for. Now i read the that the newer version changed to directx i was a bit disappointed because i would have the same problem as with MediaPortal.
I installed the new version with the patch in this thread and it works like a charm. I have it now running under Vista 64 with GForce 7300 and GBPVR full screen on secondary monitor (TV via compesit).
This was what i was looking for, thank you very very much.
Oh and my MCE remote works even too.

There is no choice with PVRX2 except VMR9 Custom (the default) or FSE (using the cmd line option), regardless of the setting in the config which is ignored.

I'm using VMR9 Custom. Haven't noticed any problems so far.

Thats fantastic sub !!! - as mentioned I was keeping a casual eye on this thread and after unzipping your patch zip file into the gbpvr directory PVRX2 immediately starting working just like GBPVR used to and still is.
As for my setup, I consider it quite a nasty and cheap setup, and all the graphics/menu/acceleration/livetv everything is working fine !
My working graphics card is just a 'NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X' connected to a primary 24" widescreen LCD via VGA and a secondary TV via S-Video.
Once again, thanks, I am now looking forward to all your wonderful development skills again !! Smile

Thanks Sub - that's awesome. Just wanted everyone to know that it's working like a charm on my second monitor after applying the patch. Graphics look great and no slowdown at all. My system specs:
• AMD Athlon XP 2400+ Thoroughbred 2.0GHz Socket A Processor
 • GIGABYTE GA-7N400 PRO2 Socket A Motherboard
 • Patriot 2GB (2x1 gig dual channel) PC 3200 SDRAM
 • Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS GAMER
 • Running via 50' breakout cable to BarcoData 701s
Thanks a lot Sub.

This is more of an annoyance than anything, but I get this almost every time I close down GBPVR. It appears on my primary monitor so don't even notice until I go to use my computer.

Also, sometimes GBPVR will come up on the second monitor (TV) and it's not full screen...everything is quite large and I can only see about the top left of GBPVR. In other words I have to hit Alt+Enter to get it to display right. My second monitor has a resolution of 800x600.

Again these are more annoyances than anything else, am just glad that the secondary monitor thing was figured out Smile

Is this really every time you close PVRX2? You do get an error like this if you close it before the EPG has finished loading the listings in the background. Try waiting a couple of minutes, then exit - I suspect you wont get this crash. This is a long standing bug that GBPVR.exe has also had, ever since SQLite database support was introduced about a year ago. (the listings do take a bit longer to load in PVRX2.exe than GBPVR.exe, so its a bit easier to notice the problem occurring)

I have no control over the window that shows that crash message, since its actually another Windows application that displays this Window for crashed processes.

Oh dear, finger crossing just didn't work. The ghosting/glithcing/loss of focus (its hard to describe - its like a slight simmering pixel shift for a split second) effect I have had before is present when playing Mpeg2 (DVD or HD TS) files. I had previously celebrated, but this was only on DivX files. This is not really a GBPVR/PXVR2 or even a 2nd monitor issue - or it wasn't before. When I had the problem with 99.12 GBPVR it happened regardless of which monitor I was running on. Its basically a VMR9 Custom problem. Or possibly a combination between VMR9 Custom and NV PureVideo. Sad

I had got round this on 99.12 by being able to use VMR9. Unfortunately that is no longer an option.

I cant really picture the effect you're trying to described

Quote: I had previously celebrated, but this was only on DivX files.
If divx files are fine, and the problem only seems to occur with MPEG2 video, then its possibly related to the video decoder you're using.

Agreed. I'm looking at trying a replacement for PureVideo...not sure which one yet.
re: the effect. I wish I could figure out how to screen capture it to show (especially on 2nd monitor)...not sure how to do that.
