Sub,
OK, I am running two MVPs (Rev E1M and Rev D1), with your latest patch (1.0.2339.17626) and the dongle.bin from MediaMVP (3.0.24088).

I first started the Rev E1M, played a couple of minutes, turned it off via the green button for 2 minutes, and restarted to play another file with no problems. I then turned off the Rev E1M.

I turned on the Rev D1, and tried to play a file. It contacted the server fine (as usual), but did not play on the first attempt; only a black screen. I turned it off and then back on, but it would not play this time either. Finally, on the third attempt, the Rev E1M played a file fine. I let it run a couple of minutes, turned it off for 2 minutes, and restarted to play another file with no problems.

I can try this agin with only one MVP starting if you like, or with the regular dongle.bin if you want.

I'm fairly sure I've worked out what is happening. If I'm right, it relates to the way the optimizer is holding a variable in memory rather than re-reading it from the source, which ultimately can result in an old version of the port number variable being sent to the MVP.

Can you please try the attached patch and let me know if it helps?

Nope that didn't do the trick.

I Installed the patch
rebooted PC
played mpeg
hit green button
waited a couple of minutes
hit green button again
selected video
=============
blank screen

See attached logs
Cheers

Sub,
I ran the same tests as above with the new patch, and it works fine on both the Rev E1M and Rev D MVPs. No problems at all. So I will give it the torture test over the next few days, but you have aced the present problem. Thanks.

Patd,

Ok, thats good progress at least. It has confirmed for me that my description of the problem is correct. From your logs...

Quote:29/05/2006 00:15:12.520 VERBOSE [5] MVP Service Locator will resolve media port: 6337
<snip>
29/05/2006 00:15:12.560 VERBOSE [7] MVP Service Locator will resolve media port: 8337
<snip>
29/05/2006 00:17:19.343 VERBOSE [6] Sending MVP Service Locator response to 4001A8C0:16882 (control: 5906, streaming: 6337)
That last number I highlighted should be 8337, but its still using the old value 6337. Now I just need to work out why its still using that old value.

We're almost there.

Guys, can you try this version.

EDIT: This was for v0.97.7 only. Do NOT apply it to a later release of GB-PVR.

Knew you could do it, sub!!

Well, anyway, I have had 9 successful consecutive loads so I reckon that the problem has been solved here. Good luck for you other guys, too.

As always, thanks heaps for your work on this.
