Forgive my novice-ness, but how does one apply the patch? What directory does it go into?

It replaces the gbpvr.exe file in your "c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr" directory. You'll need to stop the recording service before you can copy this file into the directory.

Well done sir, talk about an obscure problem.

Sorry to put a bit of a damper on things though - it fixed the blank screen, but not my connecting problem with Kerio firewall. Connects fine after first PC boot, but doesn't when MVP put into standby and back. Previous version of gbpvr behaves as it should do.

However, I'm prepared to swap firewalls if anyone has any suggestions.

Martin,
Are you allowing Kerio to pass UDP packets? That is probably necessary, though I have not researched it. It could be that Kerio lets a few packets sneak through upon bootup that allows you to connect initially.

Yes Jim, I've even gone in and given full I/O to all ports to all programs with a gbpvr-like name.
I don't think it's packets sneaking in during bootup, as when I've been trying (a lot these last couple of days) the MVP is on standby whilst the PC boots up and I tramp downstairs, so everything should have settled down on the PC by then. The fact the previous gbpvr version runs fine is what I can't get my head round.
With Sub's latest fix - why did some machines work fine and other not?? - spooky

Brillant - latest patch works very well for me. Better infact than 96.12 which required several mvp reboots after a pc reboot.

BTW martingt123 I'm using Kerio firewall (latest version)

To be honest I wouldnt have expected it to fix that specific problem - it just sounds like a problem with your firewall or the way you've got it configured. The fact it works with Kerio disabled clearly shows where the problem lays.

The patch I supplied does correct the issue with the incorrect port number being supplied when the MVP is looking for servers.
