Any developments on the orginal posting regarding nvidia cards and aspect ratio. I also noticed another issue that may be related to the same problem.

When in windowed mode and live tv the video extends out of its box by a cm or 2 on the right side and if you move the window then it kind of leaves that image on the desktop. Again changing to overlay corrects the problem.

what exactly do i loose using overlay apposed to vmr9?

You said now in overlay you can change aspect ratio, I tried F7 and it does nothing.

Just wondered if you have a nivida card and any closer to a resolution to the issue. At the moment I am currently using overlay settings

No, there hasnt been any further work on this problem. If you've got one of these nvidia card and this problem, you'll have to disable DVXA to get rid of it for now.

Sounds like buggy video card drivers to me. I tell it what window the video is to be shown in, and its not supposed to extend outside of that window.

Semi-transparent OSD is pretty much the only thing. With Overlay the OSD is opaque.

Works here. I'm not sure why it wouldnt be working for you.

No I dont have an nvideo card, but another user was going to send me one. So hopefully that'll arrive and I can come up with something for the next main release.

Perhaps this helps:

After much testing i could find out, that the last usable driver version is the ForceWare 81.98 WHQL for our purposes.
All of the following drivers are trimmed to cooperate with the PureVideo Decoder. Without the PureVideo Decoder a using of VMR 9 is not possible with ForceWare >= 81.98.

I have tested with an Onboard 6150 and an external 7600 GT. If it's wanted, i can show you some pictures of a buggy ForceWare.

A question to Jens Neuschäfer, the german PR-Man for NVIDIA was answered like this:

For using of VMR9 and a correct TV-Out a driver like 81.98 should be used, which is my experience too.

For information....

I am also suffering the same symptons. TV image displayed in top left corner with rest of screen covered in garbage.

Graphics Card - Nvidia GeForce 7300 LE with Forceware 84.21 drivers

Plus $35 for Nvidia Purevideo Decoders!.

Problem goes away if overlay is used or hardware acceleration is switched off.

Strangely, I have Windows MCE installed which works fine with Hardware acceleration and VMR. I assume it's using VMR as the OSD appears translucent? I would of thought if it was a driver problem then MCE would suffer the same symptons as GBPVR?.

It would be great if someone clever out there could get to the bottom of
this.

I don't know, if the ForceWare 81.98 already supports the GeForce 7300 LE. If it's so, than please download the MCE-ForceWare 81.98 WHQL by NVIDIA.COM.

I am sure, that this should be better for you. VMR9 should than operate normal with GB-PVR.

NVIDIA changed something after 81.98 with VMR, DxVA and PureVideo in their drivers.

I received my nvidia card from Limiter yesterday afternoon, and put it in my machine this morning, and was easily able to reproduce the problem. At this stage I'm not sure there will be any easy fix though, as the problem seems to be buggy nvidia drivers. I may have to contact nvidia with the details of the problem and hope they wont ignore me.

It looks like the problem is related to the lack of hardware deinterlacing on the nvidia cards, and the drivers not coping when a non 0,0,1,1 aspect ratio is requested.

I have been able to add a setting to the config.xml file to specify the deinterlacing mode that is used. When the deinterlacing mode is set to none, then the GB-PVR aspect ratio control works as expected on the nvidia, without this screen corruption, but with the downside of not being deinterlaced.

I see that fiddling with the nvideo decoder settings, you can get the aspect ratio to work correctly by setting the 'Deinterlace Control' to 'Film', but by the look of it this is not deinterlacing.

Video content is interlaced, and typically 30 frames (meaning 60 fields) per second, while film content is progressive, typically 24 frames per second. The "Video Format" section of ForceWare Multimedia Video property page indicates if the current content is film or video.
