Hi sub!

I am now in troubles! Here's something i can't understand. I am using the NVIDIA PureVideo Decoder and get a CPU-Using by 100% @ playing DVD or MPEG-2 Files..., the crazy thing is: With the same decoders i can watch Live TV without Problems.

Now i tried to play the DVD's or MPEG-2 Files with the Windows Media Player (exactly the same decoder) i get only a CPU Usage by aroun 17%

I wanna say, that i am using an AMD64 3.500+ (2,2 GHz)...

What could this be, sub? I have installed DxVA so the main processing time should go to the graphicscard (which is working with Windows Media Player).

Don't say, PureVideo doesn't work with GB-PVR, it IS working fantastic @ Live TV (i tweaked live TV to maximum quality level within GB-PVR).

Could it be a bug?

Best Regards

Did you read the sticky survival guide thread? There is post about DVD playback problems. Try that as a first step.

Hm, i thought i extracted this Version from the survival-guide. Seems that i forgot this after a clean install of GB-PVR.
With the Version from the "Survival Guide" i can now watch DVD / MPEG-2 again smooth. The CPU-Usage drops from 100% to 60% in C'n'Q-Mode.

Thank you =)

Cool.

I'll probably do a maintenance release in the next few days that includes this and a few other patches, but I've got to work out a problem with the MVP first.

One question do i have left. Why is the CPU-Usage so very high within GB-PVR? If i watch the same MPEG-2 File with the Windows Media Player, i have only a Usage by about 17 till 30 %. GB-PVR doubles that usage, even the same decodersettings.
Is here something, gb-pvr makes on it's own? Some sort of stretching or deinterlacing perhaps?

GB-PVR doesnt actually do the playback itself. It just hands it over to the directshow components on your machine.

It'll most likely be something to do with the video decoder you're using or the video renderer. Try switching to overlay.

Although it's difficult for me now to prove/measure now, I also feel that the CPU is inresive. Not only that, I'm alsmost positive (as I stated in another thread), that 97.7 somehow uses more CPU than previous version. Could that be? It may very well be the drivers, or whatever "externa" to gbpvr (.NET2.0)? but somehow, the upgrade is the only change on the box, and the CPU is now higher.

I wouldnt think so - but never say never. I've not noticed anything myself, or seen comments to that effect.

When playing videos, GB-PVR pretty much just steps out of the way and asks directshow to play the file using the specified window. Directshow is something already on your machine, and was same directshow used on your machine in the previous release of GB-PVR.

If you've changed video renderers or decoders this would account for a change in the amount of CPU used.

dont think I did, unless a default has changed or something (I sure didn't install anything, or voluntarily selected something in Config...). Which settings would you recommend in Config to try to box this?

I still have the whole \devnz\gbpvr folder from before the upgrade. would it be easy to compare this part in config.xml?
