I am unsure if you can connect your cable directly to the PVR - but if you connect it straight into your TV I dont see why not.
Do you hvae to tune each channel in on the TV in order to watch them?
I live in New Zealand, and you have to have a box for both cable and satellite services. (of course, there are free to air channels for normal tuning without a box)
Just try plugging the cable lead directly into the PVR's input and see what happens - run the channel scan utility (I think thats what it is called - I dont use it, all of my inputs are via RCA) and see what it brings up.
Maybe another user will be able to explain how to tune channels - or hopefully someone from New Jersey using a PVR who may be able to shed some light.
