I am experiencing the same speed issues on the initial viewing of the guide. I ran the index utility in post #26, but the slowness is still there on the initial load. If I select the Guide from the main menu, it takes about 30 - 35 seconds to display, and if I hit the guide button while watching live tv (in timeshift mode), the picture freezes, jumps, and eventually gets out of synch when the OSD finally displays (5-10 seconds). I need to stop live tv, then reselect it from the menu and then the guide will display very quickly with minimal disruption to the playing video. My computer specs are:

P4 3.0
1GB RAM
ATI 9550 256MB
ATA-133 HD (40GB, 2x60GB)
Windows XP Pro SP2
GBPVR 97.9

Thanks for any assistance.

Just to add, I retrieve 7 days of EPG data.

I restarted the recording service and it seems to have helped with the initial load of the quide problem, I need to test some more to be sure.
When I just tried it again everything was fine, turned on the MVP went to livetv and guide and they both popped right up. It was repeatable every time until I restarted the recording service.
I just noticed while testing that hitting the guide button while in live tv causes stuttering playback and a long delay while GBPVR tries to process the request for the mini guide.

On another note, I just canceled some recordings on the 14th to be able to record another show and it tells me there is a conflict and will not schedule it. In the conflict box the only option is to cancel the current recording request and does not list the "conflict". So I can't schedule it. Have checked the pending recordings and the time slot is free.

Delay on first entry into the guide is back. Sub if you want my database too then let me know, it's about 27 meg before zipping.

I wouldnt be surprised if it takes a while viewing the TV guide for the first time. It can potentially have to load a lot of information, particularly for US directv and dish network users.

If you start GB-PVR, but dont view the TV guide for a couple of minutes, then click the TV Guide button, does it go straight in?

I'll be able to test that in a couple of hours, I have recordings scheduled. I just turned on the MVP and watched a few minutes of a show that was recording and came back out and loaded the guide and the delay was there. That is not what you asked though so I will test it from live tv and post results. And yes I am on Directv with 10 days of Zap2it, may have to knock the days back but will leave it as is for now.

I was able to go from a few minutes of live tv right into the guide with no delay.
I just won't make it a habbit to go right to the guide when I turn on the MVP. Thanks Sub.

I had to go back to Access. What a Shame.

After installing the indexes application patch , I thought the problem(s) would be solved. GBPVR starts faster thatn with Access but once you go to the guide, it just sits there.

I do have Dish network with over 300 chanels and and epg of 7 days. I just do not think SQLiite is up to the task.

There is another issue with SQLite and that is its record level locking capabilities, which it simply does not have. If an app is updating the database, the entire database gets locked , even for reading.

For me, release 97.09 has been an extremely good experience, minus SQLite.

Hopefully Sub finds where the Bottle Neck is.
