Sub,

The Index patch won't run for me, I just keep getting "Application has encountered a problem and needs to close"

Any ideas?

Thanks

Can I ask a nagging question?

The database grows according to the EPG, and that is dynamically sized, presumably. So is the patch a once-off enhancment or does it need to be run every time the EPG is updated? i.e. is a batch file required?

In the conflict box the only option is to cancel the current recording request and does not list the "conflict". So I can't schedule it. Have checked the pending recordings and the time slot is free.

I found the solution to this problem if anyone is curious. Operator error. Directv had some free preview channels a couple of weekends back so I added them to the nightly zap2it download as well as configured them in config. When the free preview ended I removed them from Zap2it and config channels. Last night I went into config and double checked my channels and found the channel I was trying to record was not enabled in capture sources and was marked as a favorite in the combined channel listing. The result was that the channel data was listed in the EPG but the channel was disabled in the capture source, so naturally it would not record and showed as a conflict. Totally my fault.

It's a run once. It creates a couple of indexes in the database which stay in place once there.

Once indexes are in place in the database they are automatically updated every time data is changed, added, or deleted.

Quote:I had to go back to Access. What a Shame.

After installing the indexes application patch , I thought the problem(s) would be solved. GBPVR starts faster thatn with Access but once you go to the guide, it just sits there.

I do have Dish network with over 300 chanels and and epg of 7 days. I just do not think SQLiite is up to the task.

Granted I do not have 300 channels (I have ~60) - my query performance with SQLite is vastly superior to what it ever was with Access (since the addition of the indexes). FWIW I have 14 days EPG.

Loading the guide itself the first time seems roughly the same - but from that point forward there is no comparison - the biggest differences are when changing channels and calling the guide while watching a channel.

Maybe the answer would be for the guide to initially pull a day or two of data -- then fill the rest on demand.

The delay in loading the TV Guide is still a problem. I have started GBPVR and left it running for hours. Everytime I go into the TV Guide it takes a minute or two to load the guide.

Currently, I have 15 days of EPG data for directv channels (130 channels).

If I reduce the number of days down to 3 then it is much faster but the problem remains. Everytime I go back to the main menu and back into TV Guide there is a delay.

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look. Start GB-PVR, wait ten minutes, then click the tv guide button, then post the gbpvr.exe.log and let me know how long it took to view the tv guide.

cheval, can you also zip and email your gbpvr.db3 file to me at support@devnz.com?
