As long as I've used GB-PVR (not that long, since the 96 release), I've had problems where it would drop frames and look very jerky during playback of recorded shows. The odd thing is that if I keep pausing/unpausing the video, stop playback and then resume, or fast forward/rewind, the problems will sometimes goes away. They also cause it to happen when it's working fine. It's very noticable when Im watching a hockey game, and right now Im watching the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which also makes it very noticable. Im using the purevideo decoder, and ffdshow although it's off right now (CPU usage is about 50% during playback). Anyone else have this issue?

Here is the hardware/software I'm using:
PVR-150 with 24054 drivers
GeForce 6800 AGP w/ 91.28 beta drivers
GB-PVR 97.7
XP SP2

I'm guessing its one of two things:

1) the video decoder you're using. Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach your gbpvr.exe-native.log file.

2) the version of quartz.dll on your machine. Its discussed in this thread: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=5600

@sorry sub, but this is important too:

Fumanchu: Don't use with your GeForce 6800 AGP the 91.28 ForceWare and latest PureVideo Decoder! Both of them don't work right with your VPU.

You should try the PureVideo Decoder Version one step before the latest (186, i think) and the ForceWare 81.98 WHQL with your Graphicscard.

Hardware-Acceleration doesn't work right with newer Driverversions for the older Graphiccards. Especially AGP cards won't be handled right actually.

Thanks for the quick reply. I reproduced the problem after I upgraded to 97.09. I skipped through some commercials and I could see frames dropping. I paused it, waited a couple seconds, resumed, and playback was normal again. Attached is my gbpvr.exe-native.log file.
I haven't changed my video drivers yet, although Im going to upgrade to 91.31 after this recording is through. I'll do that first, then I'll change the quartz.dll, and then I'll change video decoders if that doesn't work. I had this problem before I upgraded to the 91.28 drivers, so Im pretty sure that's not it. My guess is it's purevideo. I'll let you know what I find.

I see you're using ffdshow. This can also be a cause of these sorts of problems for some users, so is another possibility worth investigating.

I replaced quartz.dll with the DX9.0b version and that appears to have fixed my problems. Thanks for the help!
