Hey guys,

I'm new to this, so if I'm doing something really stupid or this is known stuff, just let me know. I've been setting up my PC to double as a PVR (with the intention of buying a MediaMVP to be able to play it all back), and I've run into 3 issues. For information purposes, my hardware is as follows:

Dell Optiplex GX270 (2.8GHz P4)
1.2Gb RAM
300Gb Hard Drive
GeForce 5500Fx video card
Hauppauge WinTV-PVR150 PCI card
Comcast Digital Cable with Motorola DCT2524 STB

Of the issues, the 2nd seemed the most troublesome to me. Issue 3 was rare and I still have no idea of the steps I did to get there. The issues I ran into were:

Issue 1:
1) Start GB-PVR with one file in the video library
2) Delete file. Get error "Error: Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than size of the collection. Parameter Name: Index"
3) Get sent to Main Menu. Go back to video library and get same error.
4) GB-PVR Hangs for a few seconds, then returns but no longer responds to remote control commands, only to keyboard/mouse commands. Restarting GB-PVR is the only way to get remote control functions back.

Issue 2:
1)Go to LiveTV
2)Press Record
3) Chose "Record until exit LiveTV" and start recording
4) Press STOP after a few seconds/minutes/whatever. Get sent to main menu
5) Click LiveTV again. Get error about no tuners being available, even though nothing is recording. Need to restart recording service to be able to use tuner again...
6) After restarting recording service, these steps work fine and do not produce the error again until you restart GB-PVR. If you press BACK instead of STOP in step 4 the problem never occurs.

Issue 3:
(Not sure of steps)
Sometimes it appears the viewing functionally gets hung up and the display shows garbage until I restart GB-PVR.

Welcome to the forums and gbpvr. I think for each issue you'll want to create log files showing those errors.

The log files to provide live in you gbpvr program directory, zip them up (one set per issue) and post them into the forums.

Yeah, what he said. Reproduce each issue, and post a set of logs, then I'll take a look.

Thanks for all of the help so far! I'm having a ball with GBPVR, enough so that I just ordered hardware to build a standalone PVR box instead of sharing my gaming box with it. That way I don't have to keep switching monitor settings to use it fullscreen on my tv! The quick support responses (despite how annoyingly newb I must seem at times) I've gotten have only encouraged me! Keep up the great work!

Here are the log files for issues 1 and 2. Issue 3 is a little harder to make happen, so if i stumble across it again i'll let you know. I don't know if issue 1 affects photos and music as well, i've only tried it with video.

I'm not sure with issue 1. I tried to reproduce it here, but didnt encounter the problem. Is there any more key info you can give me? I've not seen any other reports of this.

Does it only do it if the single file is in the root of video library, or can you reproduce the problem with a subdirectory with one file? I tried both here.

Even though you've got an analog device, I suspect this is related to the problem I fixed earlier today: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=18149

Well I can tell you my exact setup. I made a directory under C:\ called MyPVR. Under that directory I have the following directories:

Videos
Photos
Music
RecordedShows
LiveTVBuffer

I set the directories accordingly and remove the default directories for Photos, Videos, and music (the defaults are all C:\). Then I copy a .wmv file i recently recorded from a DV camera and I put it in the videos folder. I start up GB-PVR, go into the Video Library menu, and then select the file and delete it. Then I get the error message. If I exit GB-PVR and restart it, I keep getting that error when I try to view the Video Library. If I copy any other video file into the Videos folder and restart GB-PVR the problem disappears. But if I empty the video library folder then the error returns.

If I make a subfolder under Videos (even if it's empty) the problem goes away. Adding a video file to that directory and then deleting it doesn't show the problem. It seems like one the toplevel videos folder goes empty the problem appears.

SIDE QUESTION: How do I make GBPVR update the contents of these folders? If I move a file into the videos folder while gbpvr is running, when/how does GBPVR know the file is there?

That's good news. I think this issue was the one that concerned me more. If the worst thing I have to do is keep a file in the video library I'm not horribly upset with that. Is there a patch planned, or just a fix in a future release?

Thanks for the fast reply Smile

Thats odd. Its a good detailed description, but it doesnt seem to do it for me. My build is later than v0.97.13, so its possibly something I've fixed without realising it when I've made some other changes in those areas of the app.

Given the description, its unlikely many people would ever see this error.

It builds the list each time you change directory. Most people just have video library directory pointing to some where with lots of directories under it, so this works well enough.

The next release also builds the list each time you enter the plugin in case the contents of the directory had changed since you last view it.

I'll just include it with v0.98. It's not worth doing a patch for this.

Sounds good to me. I have no problems keeping a file/folder in the videos directory (i don't think it did it with photos or music).

Big thanks again!

FWIW, I couldn't get any error by replicating the scenario for deleting the only video entry.
C2Duo E8400, 4GB, GE8600GT, PCH A-100, HVR2200, NPVR 1.5.31, Win 7 x64.
