Hi there,

i am new to gbpvr, and have a few questions about wakup from standby or even from an unpowered system...

Do I have to shut down the pc viea gbpvr or is the service responsoble for wakeup?

Any further config neccessary?

Any further settings?

I am using the latest version, and a dell optiplex gx240´- 'cause it doesn't work...

Thanks,
Dietmar

control of your pc's powerdown settings is handled by windows (via the control panel). you should set it to go into standby (my prefered option) or hibernate after x mins/hrs.

gbpvr will wake the pc out of standby or hibernate (but not off!) to update the epg, record a show etc.

the only settings in gbpvr that spring to mind are the ones in the config that tell gbpvr whether to wake the pc up to download the epg and at what time. No settings are needed to tell it to wake the pc to record a show.

some people find that windows never goes to sleep as some process prevents it from entering an idle state. there are 3rd party utils that can be used (instead of windows power settings) to overcome this tho i can;t name them off the top of my head.

There are several threads in the forum related to standby and power settings.

check these points out and tell us exactly which bit isn;t working for you (the shutdown or the wakeup)

Hi,

I have tested wakup via the scheduled tasks - this works great, both from standby an hibernation...

But gbpvr does not wakup if I manually bring my pc to standby or hibernation... Does wakeup not work if manually sent to standby (also via the frontend???)

Thanks,
Dietmar

It should wake up fine. My previous system did, even when I manually put it in hibernation. I haven't gotten around to testing it on this new system yet.

it should do, yes.

So you are doing this test?

schedule a recording via tv listings that starts in ~10 mins
put the pc into standby using gbpvr shutdown menu
wait for pc to wake up
nothing happens?

what happens if you:
set pc to go into standby after 5 mins
schedule a recording via tv listings that starts in ~10 mins
wait
pc should go to standby
does it?
does it wake?

just trying to clarify the exact steps that you followed. Honestly, I have never had a problem with gbpvr waking the pc.

what version of windows (inc. service pack) are you using?
