I've recently started using GB-PVR and have had it working well using an xmltv TV guide, but thought I may as well switch to using the DVB-T program guide information. What I'm finding, though, is that GB-PVR cannot grab any DVB-T EPG data at all. I've tried to attach config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log - the former shows a NullReference exception and the latter shows that CreateRecorder() fails, which I assume means that GB-PVR has no way of grabbing the EPG data - but I'm afraid the forum keeps showing an error when I upload the Zip file containing them. Sad

A few related questions & comments:

1. When is DVB-T EPG update scheduled, normally? It strikes me that it really needs to be dealt with by the recording service, so that it can avoid trying to grab EPG data when the tuner(s) are in use, for example, but perhaps this is already what it does?

2. In the UK, we have various channels which only exist at certain times of day. It would therefore be very handy to be able to "update" an existing table of scanned channels, so that by doing a Map Channels to EPG at various times of day, you can fill out the bits you missed on previous occasions. Perhaps the current interface actually supports this, but it wasn't clear to me that it did!

3. E4 doesn't exist! It's visible through other software, but not through GB-PVR. Looking at the list of regions in the card settings, I suspect that this is because the MUX settings for my region are outside the All Regions range.

4. I'm finding that VMR9/VMR9Custom performance is slightly stuttery, Overlay mode has great performance but rubbish aspect-ratio handling and VMR7 has good performance and almost completely working aspect-ratio handling. Just an FYI, really. Smile

Zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Yes, the recording service normally takes care of this.

Yes, it already does this. Map all your channels durinng the day, then once more at night and you'll have the complete set. Rescanning does not replace any mappings that have already been made.

This could be a few thing. Use the forum search to find numerous threads on the top. I would apply the patch from here though: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=1...ostcount=8

I can't upload the log file zip for some reason - I get an Internet Explorer "cannot load the web page" error every time I try to. I'll try to upload it from another machine, in case it's just this one being weird, but I wonder if the problem is this:

In config.exe-native.log:
...
11:22:44.218 VERBOSE About to call pSink->LockProfile(NULL)
11:22:44.281 VERBOSE Target DVR-MS filename: c:\gbepg.dvr-ms
11:22:44.281 VERBOSE About to call pSink->CreateRecorder()
11:22:44.281 ERROR pSink->CreateRecorder() failed: 0x80070015

I notice that this refers to "C:\gbepg.dvr-ms" - if it tries to open that then it'll definitely fail, since the root drive on my system is I: and C: is actually a removable device (best not to ask why).

Yup, I've read through a load of performance-related posts and did find that one after I'd posted this - I've downloaded the patch and will try it out tonight. Fingers crossed! Smile

Sorry, you wont be able to use the DVB EPG option then. It uses this temporary file for getting the EPG. The file path is not currently configurable.

I've changed it in the next release to use the configured recordings directory.

That'd be great. I'll stick with xmltv EPG for the time being. Many thanks. Smile
