Hey there guys,

Anyone have any experience with the Diamond XtremeTV series of cards? Specifically the PVR560?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6815306002

I'm looking for a 2nd capture card for my HTPC, that comes with a remote. I'd prefer to get an 550 Pro chipset card, but they are like twice the price.
Dedicated HTPC: MSI K7N420 Pro, AMD 2200+, 1.5GB RAM, PVR150, 550Pro, ATI 9800XT, 300GB Maxtor HD, Diamond XTreme DDL Sound, MVP over wireless bridge, GBPVR 1.2.13

I was going to suggest the Sapphire Theatrix Theater 550 Pro... they're readily available on the shelves here for under $100 CDN but I can't find them on any of the major US retailer websites (newegg/buy.com/etc)...

What's up with the shortage of TV tuners there?

Tell me about it... the 550's seem tough to find. Especially at the local retailers (Circuit City, Best Buy, Wal-mart, etc.).

supplies of the 550 chip have been shortened to 3rd parties because the 550 chip is also implemented in both the ATI 650 (hybrid card, the 550 does all the SD work) and the new OCUR. If you go to http://www.pcalchemy.com (my favorite place to get the htpc stuff) I see they have it in stock. pretty decent price too. They used to hve the pci-e version too, but I would assume that to be gone quick due to the demand and chipshortages.

I've just begun my PVR odyssey by setting up a system with a PVR560. The card itself hasn't been a problem, but lining up the right codecs and such is just tons of fun. Rolleyes

Anyways, selecting the generic Conexant Falcon option gets it working with GB-PVR.
