GameZone 0.4 Support Thread

yeah, I get this too, but it's not just zsnes. I've seen the pop up after exiting and reopening mame and epsxe rom lists too....

It would seem a Gremlin has entered GameZone. I am fighting the urge to dive in and fix it as I am only a few days away from adding the subdirectory feature and I am therefore changing the filelist modules quite heavily, with the issue you are seeing in mind I will look at the favourites modules as well as I suspect the issue may well be in there. So please bear with me and hopefully it will be a better end game than a quick fix.

Nice job on the plug-in! I have ZNes and Fusion working fine but I can't get the MAME up and running. In the config I setup MAME and the Rom directory and when I press the Build Rom Database I get an error box stating an Unhandled Exception error. I have attached a screenshot and the error log. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is a bit strange your logs show that you hit the 'build ROMDatabase' button a few times in a row? is that correct or is it part of the issue?

anyway some questions to you, a correct log entry in the gbpvr/logs/config.exe.log would look like this:

12/02/2007 08:45:22.281 VERBOSE [1] GameZone: creating Mame listxml.txt
12/02/2007 08:45:50.968 VERBOSE [1] GameZone: Mame database generated


inbetween these two entries there is more verbose logging that can be found in gbpvr/config.exe.log.
As the unhandled exception claims that the log file is not available, I would be interested to see if you have the file and what is in it. Also do you get a command prompt window appear that says something like "Please wait while the database is generated" ?

When I hit the Build Rom Database button a DOS window does flash for a brief second then I see the error box. I couldn't tell you what it is as it's so fast. I press Continue I can go on changing other settings then hit Ok. If I choose Quit it exits the config program. As for the numerous times the button has been pressed, it may be because of me hitting Continue and then changing some things and trying again. Here is what the details say about the error box that pops up (if it helps):

Hi can you attache the log file is says is being used by another process:

"

Note this is NOT the log file in the /logs directory

The config.exe.log file is the one I had put into the Error.zip file in my first post on page 2. I got it out of the GBPVR root directory. I am running GBPVR 98.13. I don't have a Logs subdirectory.

UPDATE: I was able to capture the DOS window that pops up for a brief second. Appears it doesn't like MAME.exe. I checked my MAME directory and I only have one exe file = MAME32FXpp.exe

Is there a Mame.exe I am missing? I am running the 0111 version on my PVR. Here's the screenshot:

Ok two things I have not tested this release on 98.13 version of GB-PVR. You might be fine but thats the warning.
Secondly GameZone only supports the original Mame and not any of the derivatives. you can download mame here:

I notice that the latest version is now 0.112

The one at the top of the page is what you want, description is:
Windows command line version of MAME 0.112.

It should work fine but again I have not tested with this version of mame

I also tried version mame0111b.exe and the same thing happened. I had planned to go to 99.05 eventually so I may try that this week sometime. In the meantime, I have ZNES and Fusion working. I'll let you know the outcome of MAME.

P.S. Anyone else here running GameZone on GBPVR 98.13?

Its actually a relatively minor bug that would be quite quick to change, it was introduced at the time of the Mame Database and it writes the mame specific log by a separate logging routine than the built in one so I can change it easily to use the standard gb-pvr logging routine and that I believe will fix the issue. I am very close to getting the sub directory feature working (works with Snes, Kega and My Programs currently) I can add the fix to 0.41 release so others do not experience the same issue.
