Since it's a wireless MVP, I'd try to get that working. My guess is along the same line as stefan's: It's probably routers' wireless encryption that the MVP can't handle.
To test this theory, on your router try turning off wireless encryption (temporarily) and see if the MVP can then connect to your network. If it works, then you'll need to refer to your manual to figure out which encryption scheme it supports.
Also, here's a tidbit off of the Hauppauge FAQ for MVPs:
Wireless MediaMVP cannot obatin an IP address
Problem: Cannot obtain an IP address when trying to connect to a wireless router.
Solution: If the Router has a setting for "Authentication type" in its Wireless configuration, this should be set to "Automatic" or "Open". If it is set to "Shared", the wMVP may not be able to obtain an IP address from the router.
