I've been doing a lot of reading on FTA lately, and it appears that the 18" dishes aren't "strong" enough to pick up a lot of the satellites out there. Most of the FTA enthusiasts use 30" or bigger dishes.

I'm gonna wait and see how this works out before I sink anymore $$ into it.

Now if that stupid satellite finder will ever get here......

I have not spent much time lately trying to repoint to other sats so I am not sure how well it will work on the others. The 119 sat is very strong and has the FTA NASA channel on it. It has pretty cool stories and tech shows.

I finally got my satellite finder in and was able to locate the 110! Big Grin I even put in the diseqc switch and can find the 119 Big Grin Big Grin

I was able to scan the channels in DVBDream both for the 110 & 119 (at 65%), but when I clicked on a channel, the signal wasn't there (or couldn't play - it could be a codec issue). I decided to give up on DVBDream and have been working on trying to get it working in GBPVR, but it doesn't come up with any channels when I scan.

Attached is a screenshot of my BDA config screen. Not sure what else would do it...

Try checking the "only show devices installed in this machine" check box and see if you have the correct driver selected. I don't think that is the correct one for the 1025. I also had problems with the diseqc so I went straight to the lnb and set the diseqc to none. I would start there and see what you find. I would start on 119 (echo7) and scan it. You should find the NASA channel and Angel. That will let you know you have it setup and are on the correct bird. Then add back in the diseqc. You may also want to increase the scan time in the bda section of config (you have to do this to the file, not through config) up it to 30 seconds to get rid of the unknown channels.

SWEET!! Got NASA going! I couldn't find Angel, though.

I adjusted these settings:
<BDAPsiScanStartupSeconds>15</BDAPsiScanStartupSeconds>
<BDAPsiScanWaitSeconds>30</BDAPsiScanWaitSeconds>

and changed the LNB Switch to 0 and LNB LOF2 to 11250, left powered checked and Diseqc to A.

I ran the scan and it pulled down channels from the 119, but Diseqc A should be mapped to the 110.

I'm not complaining, but it doesn't seem to make sense.

Thanks for all of your help soccerdad!

Does anyone with the 1027 have overheating problems? My 1027 scans, switches and plays wonderful for about ten minutes then the signal starts to fluctuate and eventually lost. I've put heatsinks on the card and they are almost hot enough to burn your finger if you touch them. I've tried with and without the switch too so I don't think that's the problem. It does work longer without the diseqc in place though. Multiple drivers have been tried, alternate software, multiple switches. I even went as far as moving the dish and getting the cable length down to about 20ft.

I'm thinking about getting an OEM 1025 to see if that one works any better but I'm afraid I'll have the same problem with it. Is there another card that will work as well with GBPVR, have the ability to run HD and supports diseqc switches that isn't going to break the bank?

Are you positive it's overheating? You might want to try a test first before you dump it. Open your case and point a fan into it (at the card) - a box fan or clip on fan should do the trick. If it exhibits the symptoms of overheating, then it's probably NOT overheating, not with that much direct air on it, it's something else.

Actually tried that last night with the same results. Does your card get hot? I'm not talking warm either, this thing is scorching. Only thing that I haven't tried is a different pc. Planning on doing that this evening. If you've got some other suggestions other than what I've tried I'd appreciate it.

I don't know if it gets overly hot, but it's smashed in pretty tight between a NIC and the Emuzed MAUI. With all of the cards in there the machine generates a lot of heat Big Grin

I remember reading somewhere (satelliteguys.us) about the 1020 having overheating issues, but that the 102g basically fixed that issue. I haven't seen anything about the 1027.

What happens when your card heats up? Does it stop working? Could there be a short somewhere? Have you tried a different cable? Different PCI slot?

...just throwing out ideas or things to check...

I've read about the problems with the older cards overheating but thought that it had been fixed with the newer revisions. Haven't seen to much about the 1027 on the various sites I go to. I'm pretty sure that if I tried to run my 1027 sandwiched between two other cards it would overheat those ones as well. Once video freezes I can exit whatever app I'm using and fire it back up and the video will come in again for a few minutes before freezing up again.

I've honestly tried about everything I can think of except powering the lnbs with an stb to see if that fixes things. Tried different pci slots and actually went ahead and did a fresh install of xp. Redid all wiring and physically moved the dish to a closer location too. Besides the stb idea the next thing I'll try I guess is another system to see if it has the problems too. If that doesn't work then maybe I'll try my luck again with the 1025.

Something else to note I guess is that using AltDVB the video just freezes and that is all. In GBPVR once the video freezes then eventually the system will get an error referring to C++ being asked to execute improperly or something along those lines.
