Playing in HD best way?

I was curios I just bought a Sony 55" WEGA TV and got HD programming through a HD box I would like to run this trough my system to my TV and get the recorded HD if possible?

My systems is this I have Nvidia 6800 PLays in HD
I have a DVI to HDMI from computer to TV
I have a Hauppauge PVR-500

I am not sure what I need to do to go from the HD cable box to the computer to the TV? or do I not need the HD cable box at all?

I really am not sure which way to go

The only way to record HD digital cable in the US is to use a device like the HDHomeRun or OnAir GT, which both allow you to record any unencrypted digital cable channels.
