My 1027 ran fine (until I shorted it outSad ) I never noticed it being hot, but I never really checked either. I did have the C++ errors though. I kept installing and uninstalling GBPVR, then Windows for other reasons and it just went away. Sorry I can't tell you why. Good luck.

Up late tonight so I tested the card on another pc. No problems so far and it's running a lot cooler in this machine. Now, I have to figure out what could be causing the trouble on the htpc. I'm really starting to wonder if the power supply could be the culprit. I know the voltages could be a little better but I'm not sure if that could cause the overheat problems I'm seeing. Excuse to buy some new parts regardless. Big Grin

I was wrong. Just lasted a little longer this time. Same thing, starts to heat up and then locks up.

Finally gave up on the 1027 and picked up an OEM 1025 for $35.00. This card doesn't even get warm and has been running for the past few hours without the slightest glitch. Guess I should have dumped the 1027 a long time ago.

I bought the 1027 card thinking I can do what you guys do based on a friend being able to do the same with MyTheatre before I saw this thread. I have a DirecTV 18"x20" dish w/triple LNB pointing to 110 and 119 and another with a simple switch integrated into the dish. I could not get a signal at all. I also took my PC to another friends house who has Dish and tried it. The first time it found channels but with mostly unknown. I tried tuning until I could find an FTA but I couldn't find one. Then I tried mapping channels again because someone else said that the unknowns would be named after a rescan. After that I could not get a signal at all, even after multiple attempts. Is this a result of the 1027 heat issue? It seems so based on Trips experience. I didn't know about the heat issue at the time and I didn't check for heat at the time.

Also I had taken out my PVR-150 to install the 1027, but left in the PVR-350. But, later took out the PVR-350 also in case it was causing trbl with the 1027. Still no change. Can the PVR-350 cause issues with the 1027?

Should I be able to get a signal with the DirecTV dish and triple LNB? What are the LOF1,Switch, and LOF2 settings fo? Where do I get those?

Ok, I figured out on my DirecTV C is 110 and b is 119 and 101 is A. It seems I will be able to get a lot more free stuff if I can get the settings right and a good signal on 119. Does anyone have a list of just the FTA channels on all satellites? Seems I can get old dishes for cheap or a motor to move one depending on the FTA I want.

The best source for channel info is http://www.lyngsat.com - they have all of the channels for each sattelite and color code whether the channel is encrypted/clear text/HD.

Also, another good FTA resource (beware it's pretty technical) is satelliteguys, http://www.satelliteguys.us/ They have a whole section devoted to FTA and are mostly using the 30"+ dishes with FTA receivers.

I had seen the lyngsat site and is how I figured out that 119 has a higher number of FTA. It was too time consuming to go through all of the sat info to find other FTA channels. I'll check sat guys now.

This helped a bit - http://www.satelliteguys.us/showthread.php?t=34131 - but the topic is closed. It doesn't mention the Miami channels shown in http://www.lyngsat.com/119west.html
