Ok so first things first. I have downloaded and installed the most recent version of gbpvr which is 99.12. I have not downloaded or installed any additional plugins or skins etc.

To begin, I found that my card, the AverMedia AverTV combo (m780) is not directly supported at this time, but Sub is looking to add this in the future as per this thread: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=25249

In that thread, I used the settings that jackelmatador posted with one change. The change I made was what Sub said in the next post about changing that value to default.

I have ran config and this is what ive done.
for recording source I have choosen direct recording plugin
-----chose avermedia m780 analog
-----usa
-----capture device #1
-----composite #1 / svideo #1 (been going back and forth)
-----high settings

epg source zap2it(and have set up account)
updated epg(and the guide does come up correct as well as listings for my cable which is comcast cable zip46819)

My setup is composite out directly from my tv to the m780 using the composite to svideo adapter.

My problem is when I open gbpvr and go to live tv, I either get 1 of two things. First is that gbpvr pretty much freezes up and runs 100%cpu. The second is I have been getting at say 1 out of 4 times I try it is (dont remember exactly what was said but) "failed to connect to the machine."

I have attached a zip of my log folder(hope Ive done that correctly)

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Im new to having a tuner card and after so many great reviews, I had to check out gbpvr for myself. Hopefully I can get the card working!
Thx in advance Wink

Well, I could not figure out how to edit my post, so I am posting a reply.

I went back into the config and looked at how I have my playback set. I originally had video renderer as overlay and changed that to vmr9 and then changed my nvidia video decoder settings to use vmr9 as well.

I now actually get my TV to show up, but it is black and white....

I will continue to play with settings until either I can figure it out or can get some kind of help/direction from users on here.
Thx again

I think that the black and white suggest there is something wrong there is some thing wrong with the svideo
I suggest that you unplug the svideo adapter and replug it in and make sure it is seating correctly in the port on the card

I thought I would just continue in this post instead of starting a new one with my new problems.

I have scrapped the composite idea and went ahead and just attached my cable directly to the m780 card. I can get and receive the video signal just fine.

My first problem lies with the audio. I am not getting any audio playback. I know that ive got something correct for playback because I turned on the system noise for gbpvr and I can hear each press of key, but I do not get any audio from live tv. Oh and also music and videos also playback with audio just fine(if that helps diagnose problem.)

The second problem I have is when I exit live tv and return to the main menu, I get a black screen. The system did not freeze as I can hear the noise from key pressing, but the screen is black. I do not have this problem leaving anything else such as guide/music/photos etc, only with live tv. Also I can narrow it down a bit further by saying when I escape or back on my remote, it turns black. But.. when I hit the 'imore' button which I have setup for "home", this takes me to a live tv preview with the menu on the side and it works just fine.

I have attached a new log file if that helps.

There doesnt seem to be an audio decoder in there.

What audio decoder options are listed for you on the playback tab of the config app?

Ok, my audio decoders in order are:
System Default
MPEG Audio Decoder
NVIDIA Audio Decoder
Intervideo Audio Decoder
Nero Digital Audio Decoder
ffdshow Audio Decoder

I have gone through and selected each one and none of them give me audio during TV playback, but I do still hear system key press noises with each one.

Also to anyone out there that has the avermedia avertv combo m780 card there are drivers out there now that supposedly have qam support. If you download the beta avermedia center software, it comes with a new driver entitled AVerMedia M780 PCIe Combo ATSC/QAM + NTSC 2.5.0.19 instead of the 2.5.0.14 and does not say QAM in them. Also the 14 are WHQL and Im taking it that these Qam drivers are beta so beware!

PS sub, great software and thank you for you timely reply. Its good to see someone taking so much time to help users out. I appreciate it very much! Even without being able to watch tv currently, its the only software im running and using ever since I mapped my remote to work with it!

Try selecting the nvideo decoder, then reproduce the problem, then post the gbpvr.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.
