Yikes... just tried using my existing account (antenna only) and found that I can't get any zap2it data at all. It was working for me last night when I installed 1.08, but I'm just getting an error now.

So, is there any way to set up a QAM source without any EPG data?

Yes as far as I can tell you don't need a program guide at all but you will manually have to add your GBPVR channels. I suggest trying the scan before adding them though, as you can see from the thread some are having trouble with the scan. You can easily come back and add them after the scan. zap2it didn't find all my Rogers stations.

Sub,

Any ideas with the QAM tuning? I'd REALLY like to tune in digital stations on my HVR-1600's.

I don't know what VNC is, let alone how to set it up.

Sub,

Did you have any luck with the VNC session last night? If not, I'll work at setting it up here. I'm behind a firewall, but I should be able to forward it in.

No, I didnt, but I could do with another chance to check things via VNC today if someone is able.

Does anyone have working QAM HVR 1600 other than me?

I got it working, but since I only pay for analog basic cable I get very few clear QAM channels (although about 150 are detected, most are black and I assume encrypted) and I'm having difficulty figuring out what to map them to. Technically, it is working correctly though.

I probably won't do much with it until I get a HDTV and find it easier to match channels to QAM numbers. That'll be another month or so.

Then I'll be very bummed about the MVP not supporting HD. Sad

Whew I am not alone. It's not that easy even with the cable box, believe me.
A good resource for finding more info is AVS Forum. I you are lucky (I wasn't) someone might have mapped them here.

Also I doubt that subscribing will enable any more channel than you've got now if you are seeing QAM already.

Hmm, for those that did get it to work, do share some information on how your setup is.

Mainly What Board/rev it is, and the driver version.
Cable Company
Signal level in dBmV if possible

Any info you can give at all would be nice.

Thanks

My board has a 74041 tuner. The drivers are the 3.4D1 beta download from Hauppauge, version 1.62.25129.0.

I'm not sure how to see my signal strength. It is interesting to me though that the picture quality appears noticably worse than OTA ATSC. I guess Comcast is using a lot of compression.
