I just flipped the NV Purevideo setting of De-Interlace Control from Smart, that seems to be default, to Auto, and replace a 5 min section of a film that was something the problem. It seems to have gone away - I think. It might have introduced something else on other sources, so it seems I have a weekend of testing coming up. As I said before, this isn't a GBPVR or PVRX2 issue really...except that we are now forced into VMR9 Custom. (I haven't tried fse yet, though that, and other things are possible options to figure this issue out).

I read somewhere that Smart has been known to flip back and forth from DI modes if it is confused about the content. Film and Video are also options, but we really need a one-size-fits-all. (well certainly if someone other than myself is using the HTPC).

I've started reading this forum topic and my mood was lowering with every post...

But there is a happy ending, the patch works well with my Radeon X550 card on secondary (TV) monitor.

Thanks Sub!

Someone said they were surprised there were so few ppl here with the second monitor problem. Well, you can add me to the list. My HTPC is a dedicated machine but I need the two screens, one for config and running a movielist manager, the other for showing GBPVR/TV.

The fact that new interface breaks what was a working system is, in my view, a crying shame. Don't get me wrong: I do appreciate what sub does on this app and the new interface does look pretty - but it has to work on all setups to be truly useful surely? And it's not that unusual for an HTPC to need two screens....

Did you read the whole thread, and try the patch? Most people have got it going on a second monitor. Those that havnt got it going can either stick with an old release or buy a new video card.

A fair point sub - went off a bit at half-cock. Thanks again for all your efforts on this great-looking bit of software.

But it's not quite there yet. Using the latest patch, PVRX2 only ever starts on monitor 1 (monitor 2 is the TV), even if I set it to statr on 2 using the nVidia desktop control utility. At this point, Alt-enter then pushes the PVRX2 onto 2 but in a small window. Alt-enter again maximises it, kind-of - but the app is pushed over to the left-hand edge of the screen with a strip down the right. I have to Alt-space, maximize, then Alt-enter, and it's there, resolution-aware. Very nice but a tad clunky for a household device (I'm not the only user). I feel another little Auto-It app along the lines of StartGBPVR coming on...

I also haven't succeeded in getting any video showing through it yet! I just get a blank screen. I'll spend a little more time tonight trying to get it to work...

I'm guessing thats your nvidia desktop control utility getting in the way. Assuming that utility wasnt trying to do anything then if you set GB-PVR to start fullscreen on the second monitor, then it'll start fullscreen on the second monitor.

I dont use the utility, so I couldnt be sure what exactly its trying to do.

As I understand it (please correct me if I'm wrong), PVRX2 will start on the display from which it's started. Is that right? Because I've tried starting it with control by the nVidia utility enabled and disabled but it makes no difference to PVRX2. The nVidia utility allows you to direct the output of an app to a particular display, on a per-application basis.

Assuming you dont have 'Show in window mode' checked, then...

Having <StartOnSecondMonitor>false</StartOnSecondMonitor> will cause it to start fullscreen on the primary monitor. Having <StartOnSecondMonitor>true</StartOnSecondMonitor> will cause it to start fullscreen on the secondary monitor.

Both of those parameters are set as you suggest - except it doesn't start on the second monitor... Smile

In the Windows display settings, is the primary monitor on the left and the second monitor on the right? This is the default, and how I use it, but I seem to remember some people had problems in the past with GBPVR.exe if this monitors were not in the default layout. PVRX2.exe should behave the same, so could have this same problem.
