Should be entered into account profile on that PC. To check to see if it working go under Control Panel, then Administration Tools then Local Security Policy

click on the image to make it bigger...

In services I just make user logon to \\username then add the password to get the data off other PCs in the network but every PC as access to a fred account in this example. Works.. Unless something has changed in PVRX2, but I doubt it because I was able to see my pictures since it's on another PC and not the same PC running PVRX2
This is what I have. I have never had to go in there so I am not sure what to do there. That is my Video Server PC. [Image: 881262286_3214b19b86.jpg]

- use \\ip\sharename if you are using TCP networking.

- check to make sure you are not actually using \\computername\sharename\pathname

- remove all security on the share host to see if it is really a permissions question.

-I don't see how to use IP for the directories in GBPVR config.

-How do I know the difference between sharename and pathname? I am using \\Video\d as one of the locations for my videos and \\Video\g\MP3 for music.

-How do I remove all security? I removed the firewall and there was no change.

Ignore this for now, it involves editing config.xml

Are d and g the real shares or are they drive letters? If you are using everything by default that might need to be D$ and G$

I've meant share security all along.

d and g are drive letters. I don't have share security on my drives, if that is what you mean. Sorry for not understanding from the beginning and thanks for helping out.

Could you edit your config.xml manually and change the d and g to D$ and G$ and restart the gbpvr services.

No problem not understanding, I'm probably trying too many things at once.

When GBPVR recfording service starts, is it run as a system process, or as a process owned by the user name?

in XP:
right click my computer->manage
expand "services and applications"
select "services"
process owner for GBPVR recording service should be a user name - not "local SYSTEM"

Change properties of GBPVR recording service if needed, and restart service.

As always, the user name needs to have a real password, not a blank password

I think I had to do that once before with a previous version and is probably what is going on now. I am not at home to check this though. I am elated I have a very likely solution and mad at myself for not remembering this.

What I have to do to get this to work is set the runas in the recording service logon config in the services snapin to be administrator. The administrator passwords of both computer need to be the same.

That was the fix. Thank you everyone.
